Ymir - The multiplayer civilization builder

"Ymir is a multiplayer game of civilization building, strategy, diplomacy and management with a stand-alone client. In this game, each player controls a faction of Pigmen living in fully persistent online worlds of dozens of players. Each world is composed of regions and each region matches a unique zone players can colonize and build a city on.  This game is, and will always be, absolutely free of any kind of PAY-TO-WIN."

Hey Everyone,

My name is John Crawford.  I'm starting a Kickstarter fund-raising campaign for a new city builder game  Small Towns,Big Cities  using the Unreal 4 game engine.  I've been working on this concept off and on for about three or four years.

If there are modders or programmers that would like help with creating game and working on the fund raising  please contact me at smalltownsbigcities@outlook.com or...

I don't know if I shared my concept (physical) board game called City Landlords here but after play testing it, I decided it was fun enough turn into a videogame. My goal is to have this game eventually work like the board game with 2-8 players (and the ability to play against 1 or 2 AI players). My art style for the buildings are simple in order for them to look representative of what they are and be easily distinguished. I might even be able to turn these into physical models.

EA puts more ppl out of a job, hopefully most can transfer in house(or to a better company).

"Electronic Arts closes SimCity studio Maxis Emeryville

Electronic Arts has closed down SimCity studio Maxis Emeryville. The news was revealed on Twitter by SimCity lead gameplay scripter and designer Guillaume Pierre, and confirmed in a statement by EA.

"Well it was a fun 12 years, but it's time to turn off the lights and put the key...

NOTE: I am pretty sure that this is the right place for this thread and after 10 minutes of Google searching various keywords under this domain, I could not find any other threads like this.

Anyway, now that 2 new city building/simulating games are being released this year by relatively big European companies (and SimCity was released 2 years ago by a very big American company), and there is at least 1 notable indie city simulator in development, I think I would like to compile a...

Hey, a quick update and a very merry wish for all of you to have a prosperous and happy new year!

It's not quite 2015 here yet, it's still about 2 hours away but I know many of our friends at citybuildergames.com are from across the vast oceans and are probably already sleeping after a night of merry making and our friends on the East coast of the U.S are now well into their merry making so from my family to all of you...

I love Dwarf Fortress style games, and played through this game, once successfully, and a ton of failures...  I played the free ascii version, which wasn't too hard to play and understand. With a little more development I will certainly buy($15). I really like this though: "If you'd like, you can donate the same amount to Wildlife Conservation Society (or any other wildlife charity) instead. Just forward me the confirmation email."

Hey guys,

Don't Starve if you don't already know is a fun little survival adventure game where the game is out to get you.  You have to get resources, build a base and do everything to survive.  They have released (in early-access) the new multiplayer version.

Together supports up to 6 players on a server.

If you already own Don't Starve you can get access to the Together version and you get an extra copy to give to a friend for $5,...

Hey,

So, I've kind of been burned on some 'early access' games on Steam with the latest one being Spacebase DF9 (or something like that) where I only just found out now that the developers finally admitted that sales have not been enough for them to continue development.

This really makes me think that Steam needs to revamp their rules on what can be sold for early access and what can't.  For example be their own type of kickstarter that the...

Just saw this game announcement "Stars Beyond Reach": http://arcengames.com/announcing-stars-beyond-reach-a-new-4x-coming-in-aprilmay-2015/
Described as "4x, hexes, hex-shaped map, 14 races planned (8 playable), 3 leader options per race, no units (think SimCity), sci-fi but planet based, and (probably) with co-op multiplayer."  Could be good, I'll definitely be...

Anyone else here play the witcher series?

I pre-ordered the third game as I have eaten up the hype and I enjoyed the first two games.  Anyway the pre-order came with closed-beta passes for the online adventure board game they are developing as well.  Have played a few games so far.  It takes a bit to get use to and they need to enhance interaction between players but it has a lot of potential.

With all that said, they gave me two keys, one for me and one to...

SimTower was a fun game of its time I want to see who is still interested and if anyone wants to work on a spiritual successor to it.

When I was a sad and lonely boy (I don't want to go into detail here why I was sad and lonely in 1999-2003 when I was 8-12), one of my favorite pastimes besides reading science fiction and fantasy novels was playing computer games. My mother bought me the SimMania pack when it was new. I loved SimSafari, was confused by SimIsle (I never learned...

Hey.
I'm looking for one game I just can't remember the name of.
I think it was released in the late 90's.

You were supposed to build up a kind of a modern beach resort, my clearest memory of it is that there were surfer shops that you could build.
I know it's not much info but maybe it rings a bell for someone, somewhere.

It would be much appreciated if anyone of you could help me remember the name.  Or even where to get...

Hi,

So, I know I'm late to the party just now getting my first "smartphone", but hey better late then never I suppose.

Anyway, I've been cruising around the app store this morning to see what is on offer, mostly checking the *free* (cough, cough) apps and games and see that some of them might be free if I can afford to give up some screen real estate to in app/game ads or some are for straight up purchase after trying their demos (if that's what...

Hi,

I know that many of us loved the Dungeon Keeper 2 game and so I thought I'd post up about this game that I came across today thanks to a link that Khalan posted about Towns, which eventually ledf me to "Dwelvers".

You can download the alpha version at no charge from the Dwelvers site: http://dwelvers.com/download/
And they have an option to "pre-order" if you're so inclined that you can find on their site.

I would like to share with you a page I have put together showing short clips of a couple of my routes in Trainz which I spend a lot of time tinkering with and have built from a blank baseboard.  Now I am definately an amateur with knowledge of trains generally, but the steam trains do fascinate me with all their glory of hissing, steaming, whistles and other sounds.  I remember when staying at my grandparents as a very young child, I could hear the shunting and goings on at the...

Woohoo!  Went for cataract surgery in my right eye yesterday morning and they took the patch and guard off my eye this morning.  I can see again!

Prior to the surgery everything had a smokey film over it and if I looked at any websites that had black text on a white background to me it just looked like black smudges running across the page, got to be so bad that I had to change my computer to use inverted colors (white text on black background), when driving I couldn't...

Thought I would let people know, if not already aware of it, that Age of Mythology has been remade and put on steam. It will be released on the 8th of May. This is one of my all time favorite games so I am quite excited about it. Buying it early grants a 20% discount and buying a 4 pack you get effectively a 40% discount off each individual game. As such if anyone cares to go in on a 4 pack with me that would be great. I imagine Bruschev will want to also if he hasn't already bought the...
