 Happy Dance

Happy New Year all CB gamers

Just couldn't resist browsing the internet and Game, Amazon and Play. com have some very appealing offers - Silverfall £4. 99, Two Worlds £9. 99, Theatre of War £9. 99 (was £30 a month ago and 5 years in development) the new Space Captains resource building on Space stations in space no less for £14. 99 and most interesting The Guild 2 for £4. 99.  Won't say how many I bought but will keep the Postie busy for a while.

I wish some developer would bring out a really advanced, in depth, adult Medieval, pioneering/trading/building/resource collecting and production line city builder type game with outstandingly good detailed artwork and graphics.  Most of us have top spec PC's which are being wasted on the ordinaryness of this genre so far.  Only FPS and some RPG games are getting the attention these days and we are the poor country cousins scratching for the crumbs.

When I was in one of the "Game" franchises the other day I mentioned to the assistant that the PC section had shrunk yet again and he said that the PC gamer is an endangered species and most newcomers are buying consoles and can't be bothered keeping up with the constantly changing PC format and the work involved.  He has a point I wouldn't like to have to learn again all the techniques required plus the maintenance it must be quite offputting for some.  My neighbour, though not a technophobe, visibly grimaces when he sees my mission control lounge and just doesn't want to know about PC's though doesn't mind amusing himself on a console.

Could be then in the future because of the enormous costs developing and publishing PC games the choice will become even less varied, they are certainly dumbing down and concentrating on the kids market more and even looking at the up and coming releases for 2008 there's not much there for me that I would say is a must buy.

So I'll be seeing you in the New Year on the Anno 1701 and Guild 2 boards - hope it comes with a manual because I've never seemed to be able to get anything out of the demo.

PS I'm playing one of pad 11 - custom designed maps for Stronghold 2 at the moment, very nice map - pad 11 thanks a lot, its an interesting game that I keep coming back to and Castle Strike is good also, you can't beat a menacing  trebuchet for making a satisfying impact.

Well wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year - many of them,

Kind Regards

Same here.. and in more games than just the Anno series.

Look forward to you sharing your experiences.. we revisit most of these games from time to time.  There's many more playing hours for me in the 1701 rev.. just need to find more time for it.   wink

Happy Dance  Reciprocate..your Well Wishes for the upcoming New Year..hope yours is a great one too.   Smiley Blink
