seriously Sims may suffer a drop in happiness if they can't get their stuff delivered.

I know that TM said that every vehicle or person on the streets has a purpose and is doing something deliberate unlike SimCity 4 where they are supposedly filler type stuff.  But I do wonder if the ice cream van and any movers actually have anything to do in the game but be filler material.

Well I don't know about the furniture van, but I do know the ice cream and candy vans raise Sims happiness when they pass them on their way around the streets,
Have you noticed how, if you lay some farms, chicken coops, and communal gardens, add a butchers shop, fish market and a couple of farmers markets, the news ticker at the bottom reports "Fresh food delivered to 'so and so' restaurant, Sims feel healthier and happier, (words to that effect), so I think it has a positive effect on the Sims. Agreed Happy
