wink Like pat!! I refuse to get into a whine mode... hopefully my opinion is viewed as positive..

It's obvious longtime..dare I say ol' seasoned gamers like us can assess the needs of a game to make it more..erhm..complete.  Most of us have played all the varieties of games known to the Industry..so it is just well constructed input ..rather than out n out criticism... mentioning what would help the game in areas of longevity and player satisfaction.

As for the removal tool...the note I picked up on was that Vista was not supported.. which makes no sense whatsoever.. and does have the concept of more like "disabling" installed mods rather than actually removing.. IMHO.   Looking around cautiously

Maybe the Devs are just doing what they can.. toss a bone in the direction of an obvious need..and hope that the gesture calms those that harp so loudly that "nothing" is being done..  Either way.. I'm modding.. I do it manually..it is tedious but at least I know it is complete..and don't have to assume something is being done..when it isn't.

I've being programming since it was a conceived process.. so recognizing \ "switches" and params notations and the path reactions is sort of natural for me.  I'm hoping that eventually TM will release a proper Mod kit. .. the way it is it's too much trial and error creating more content for the game...making alternate textures and re-painting existing content  is too confining...limited for the hardcore mod community.  ..again IMHO   wink

CityBuilders RULE!

« Reply #23 on: December 20, 2007, 07:19:22 AM »

CB...I have it downloaded but right now IT REPLACES said buildings, which makes NO sense and basically ruins half the game....

So unless they release one that just adds the snowy buildings to the build index, I doubt I'll utilize it even though it seems like a great addition!

pat!
I wanted this mod, but I'm not going to use it if it overwrites buildings,
I agree that they should have made this seperate buildings.

It turns out that TM responded to my critisizm of overwriting buildings and they said (and IM paraphrasing) that the game currently has bugs and can only handle one set of new buildings and so they didn't want to add new buildings to the game in case we are using someone elses "new" buildings.  I think they are referring to "reskinned" new buildings though, but they said also that it's being fixed or is fixed in the next "big" update push.

So, I can understand where they are coming from, even though I'd rather have their snowy buildings as a choice over any of the other "new" buildings that people have created like the gamestop or the ninja academy as theirs in my opinion is of higher quality.

Yeah I know, my warm bricks is one of the offenders but trust me when I say that Im not the only one out there, but I did fix it and reupload it on the  SC exchange so that others can download it and uninstall it with the MRT.  I've also fixed the other ones that I have made by other folks but I've not uninstalled them, just fixed them in preperation of uninstalling them if I should feel the need to.

Hopefully then they will re-release the holiday mod after the patch comes out?

Maybe?

I honestly wouldn't count on it.  Perhaps the next big "holiday" type of mod they will do up right.  While they didn't specify if they would fix it or not, I have my own suspicions that they won't bother fixing it, but Im sure others might do so.  I may look into it and see how terribly difficult it is to do once the game is patched, I'd also like to look into adding more of the buildings with the snowy texture because it looks pretty ridiculous to have some brownstones that have snow on them, but then have a realty office with none.

Jeepers I wish they'd make this mod and the holiday mod work correctly!  The holiday mod alone would add a whole new 'realm' to the game Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I recently purchased SC Societies and I was not impressed at all.
But I played it for a while and then tried some of the mods.
It was a total disaster, the game constantly crashed and then gave a message that I might need to download something from microsoft because there was a conflict with Vista's virtual memory and the game.
At that point I gave up on the game.
The uninstall process took almost 2 hours.
I am going back to SimCity 4 which is a much better game anyway.
