A few shots at my first fun city.. (the name is simply my way to recognise the city type on my HD)

1- a castle perspective
2- a little place
3- the Gingerbread corner
4- a street

Any comment or suggestion are welcome

ah, you're too kind!

Just keep rolling Zorba...you've got a great city started!  The thing that will make it feel complete to you is when you get to the point of taking care of the little spaces 'in between'!

later,
pat!

Very beautiful Zorba.  I especially like your plaza area..a very restful place for your busy sims.

How did you get started with this city?  Doesn't the funcity stuff not open up until later in the game? What is the opening funcity houses?  Is it the pueblos?

Now I understand how to place the greenery hedges correctly in a square.  I always ended up with some nasty gaps when I tried it because of how I placed them.  But I see that placing them with a gap at each corner looks much better.

Like i said in the title of the post..it was a first try..to see what that kind of strange city looks like. So i used the EUREKA code to unlock the buildings needed at the start of the game.   It was my first try...and also my last....because i personally don't like this kind of stuff. I prefer realism in my game...that's why I've finally found and bought Children of the Nile......talk about a tough game... Crying

Oh yeah I remember CotN, the last time I tried to play it, the game was boffo and when I used the mouse at the edge of the screen to scroll it would start to scroll normal like then all of a sudden it would just jump to the edge of the map so it was impossible for me to play at that time.

I really should reinstall it and see if my current hardware doesn't have that problem.

Agreed Happy  Yeow... not getting to play CotN ... that's just *blank* indescribable.  It is a beautiful game..though I only ran it at 1280x1024..

Surely your mouse problems could've been resolved..back then and for sure now.  I'm hoping so..as I seriously played the game..from pre-beta..til it went gold.  Sunset on the pyramid complex..is really really pretty.  It's the only game I used a screenie as my desktop for quite awhile.

Let us know how things go...  play wise..an your illustrious opinion of course.   Smiley Blink

Trust me when I say I got my fair share into the game.  I was on the beta testers as well and played a huge amount of the game, submitted all kinds of bug reports, some that got fixed, others that to this day are still lurking.  It was only about 6 months or a wee bit more that I tried reinstalling and had the mouse problem, I posted over at the TM forum for help but nobody had heard about this problem that I experienced and basically (from memory now) said that the game was no longer officially supported, so I just gave up trying to make it work again.

One of these days when theres a real real lull in the gaming feast, then Im sure I'll give it another go around.
