CB, to your FSX question, it is getting a lot better with the update and another SP is suppost to be out I believe, being a large flight simmer, expecially since I am a real world pilot, I have so far stuck to Fs9 (dont even own FSX) [and considering all the addons I own for Fs9], but as long as you have a semi decent system you should be able to run FSX on your system with specs turned down.  A great place for flight sim stuff is www.fspassengers.com which is an add-on for Fs9 and a forum I have been a member at for two+ years, but you can usually always get flight sstuff help there, including for FsX.  FsX does look pretty though, but my Fs9 looks pretty damn good too.

Well with Jims help from avsim I was able to correct the problem.  Turns out that when FSX installed it didn't write the path to the registry, so he gave me a free tool that fixes that and now the expansion pack installed properly.

Honestly from what I've played of FSX yesterday (before running into the expansion pack install problem) it's not that bad.  Yeah frame rates should be higher I think, but overall, how much time do I spend on the ground in the airport taxi'ing around?  Most of my time is spent in the air where FPS seems acceptable to me since this isn't a first person shooter I don't really need more than 20fps anyway, and since in FS's things move so slowly anyway it seems okay to me.

I'm going to try to install FSX on the laptop to see if I still get the weird install screen:

that I get on that image here.
