Well, I'm just in love with the whole small town feel, so here's a shot at some small town charm with the sophistication of a develped river side, farming, and a steady but calm pace of life!

"So I left The Gold Flats.  I pocketed so much cash that I felt comfortable setting up shop here.  This wonderful plain, bisected by a slow meandering river...I need a slower pace, but not too slow!!!  I need fun, relaxation and a great place to raise my kids!!!"

The first, the start of something big!

The second, the sunrise over the birth of a town!

The third, whoa!  Who called in the Cult Leaders???

The fourth, the country folk get their needs from the farmers and flea markets!  And Hey!  That Ghost is Jaywalking down there!!!

The fifth, looking from the country in to downtown Aelister, with Monoghan Bridge in the far distance!

More!

The first, the country meets the town at night!

The second, we've tucked our newspaper into the countryside, hoping the hippies get lost as they congregate!!!

The third, we've upgraded out streets and our night lamps are lovely globes!  And again, there's this Pie Thing goin' on!!!!

The fourth, Monoghan Bridge received a facelift, and the town centre is coming into shape...

The fifth, tucked into the area within some of our modest houses, a fine playground area, a fine place to play!

We've planned our community to focus the city center, the town hall and administration building, as the focal points of a beucolic small town life!   And our first of hopefully many river plazas has take shape...the local high school plays ball there and it's become the place to go!

The first, more fun with pie!

The second, Aelister Plaza w/ the town hall and administration building

The third, fourth, and fifth, various views of Riverpark Plaza at night!  Perhpas I'll post some day shots later!

pat!

That is Sooo Cool Pat!

I really REALLY like the Town Square!! Super Job. Thumbs Up

Did you actually use the Small Town Choices? I just started a Small Town and have no bus stop buildings available.

I also was going for the Rural Look with farms outside of town - like the area in the Mid-West where I grew up.

thanks mappam!!!

Yep, Small Town, but I definitely choose bus stops (to keep traffic down) and there are a couple other things that I feel any town just needs!   But the overall societal dynamic is such that my evolution to small town came really quick!  I evolved already and my population is still below 2,500!

later,

Thanks Pat - I think I really need to get the Prima Guide - I was afraid to add the bus (from another society other than the Small Town) for fear it would hinder my advancement. I think I need the LIST from the guide  Laughing

I would also like to add some multi-person housing - condo, brownstones etc - but afraid to venture into other City Types. I understand that the Game (Guide has a list)  assigns "points" to the different buildings (items) so you can raise/lower these by which items you use in your city.

thoroughly enjoying cat!!!!

I feel really pressed to meet my own self-prescribed goals when I play it, and it really forces me to showcase a sort of 'self-control' that I just don't have to apply in other games, particularly because of its nature, I'm allowed to set my goals and I have to have the fortitude to stick with those goals, be they asthetic, trophies, sim county/type, etc!

Aelister matures!

The first, the country markets bustle every day!

The second, homesteaders moved in, they built their spartan homes...but they brought their religion...it's a bit unnerving!  All those black hats!!!

The third, the school zone of Aelister...public, private and vocational!

The fourth, across the Borman River, near Monoghan Bridge, a new river walk/pedestrial mall has taken root.

The fifth, WinMill plaza features eateries and a shop or two!
