Okay - bottom line - I have really really screwed something up with this game while trying to MOD!!

I need to uninstall and reinstall - but =

I went into 'my computer' and did the uninstall SimCity Societies and then reinstalled. So far so good.....right - wrong!

All the "files" for saved games etc are still there!

Okay - I did the uninstall thing again and then went into Program Files/Electronic Arts - and it WILL NOT let me into the file(s) to delete them! Stupid message about the file being locked or something like that.

I NEED to get rid of ALL the files associated with this game so I can start completely from scratch.

HELP!! I am going into Societies Withdrawal!

Do the uninstall and then restart your machine, if the files are still there after that, then try to delete the manually.

Crowebird - thanks for the reply - unfortunately I did all of that and it didn't work.

I did the Uninstall from the Start/My Computer/uninstall programs (whatever that is called). I then rebooted my PC.

All of the "data" files are still in Program Files/Electronic Arts folder/files. The only thing(s) that is gone is the "game" itself - but NONE of the added files.

This is where I need to delete and it will NOT let me. I get the message to make sure my disk isn't full and it is a locked file (words to that effect).

I can NOT get rid of these files/folders!!! How do I do that?

 Sorry you are having such an ordeal UNinstalling.

If you have used the Add/Remove from you Control Panel and the uninstall completed as much as it is capable, then that is good.

Most uninstall do leave content like saved games and extra files like your Mod files as they aren't part of the files structure during the initial installation.. which is a good thing since most players like to preserve their saved games most of the time.

I can't think of a reason why the remaining files should be difficult to manually remove.. unless your Recycle Bin is Full so that they cannot be moved there for deletion.  I'd check that ..to see if it is the reason you are getting the message you mentioned.

In some cases where content cannot be removed during the normal UNinstallation..this causes the Program File folder to remain.. so requiring  the user to go through this manual process.  Those remaining files in order to be deleted... can be either "sent to" when you click delete.. or you can Drag and drop them to you Recycle bin..and comfirm this is what you want done when prompted.  Each will removed these files IF there's room in Recycle Bin.  Which should always be emptied regularly.. and its capacity can be set to increased levels if necessary.

If this doesn't correct your attempt to have all of EA's SC:S content from your HD.. then it is something unique to your system .. and more info would be necessary to work through the issue.

I went through it all again - and then went into all of the Program Files and for some reason this time I let me Delete the files. Go Figure!

I reinstalled the game - got into it and LO AND BEHOLD I had forgotten one file - Saved Games! So when I went to get into a game it froze. I just deleted the Saved Game folder and will try again.

This game "stores" info in a gazillion places! Just when I thought I had gotten "them" all I find one more file associated to my uninstalled game.

The problem then becomes - which New Files are Suppose to be in the game and which ones are left over. 

If I ever get this all sorted out - I will NOT try to MOD (well - until there is a Dummy's Guide to Modding available)

  Good to hear mappam!!

Since you deleted the old Save game Folder.. I hope that the game creates a New one..for your current saves.. ( just me worrying about the possibilities.)  You might've just needed to delete the Folder content..instead of the Folder.. I have my fingers crossed.. 

At least we all know you are on the Road to playing again.. that's all  that matters,     ...so play ...play..

I deleted the "save game" folder - but not sure if it was needed I created a new one with the same name 

I just logged out of the game - it is WORKING!! I started a new town, saved the game and ***fingers crossed*** all is A-Okay!

I guess I missed deleting one file though - all my "trophy's" are still in the game (this is a Good-Thing) - BUT it doesn't seem to effect anything - WHEW!! I have no earthly idea where this file is located - thought I GOT them ALL
