In another thread Pat and I talked about "water ring" city/town = it is where the town 'old' center is actually in the center of smaller to larger "circles" (squares in this case). Where the town gets more modern/updated as the circles get farther away from the center.

What if some of us decide on a Theme - Romantic, Small town, industrial etc and then each make a city and compare what we have done?

It could be interesting to see the differences and similarities of what each of us create. It wouldn't be a Contest as such (no time limits or Who-Gets-Trophy-First things) just a basic city but all using the same basic theme.

The Water-Ring was just a discussion that Pad and I had in another thread - NOT an idea for a City Theme.

So it's not a theme as much as it it a layout or design?  I may give it a whirl. . .   But as I've said in other posts, I rarely ever get a pure theme since I choose buildings on the aesthethic value or employment/venue capacity moreso than it's themed value. . .

I like the idea....you'd need to set some parameters, etc., for starting maps but I think that's a great idea and actually quite a challenge given the way you'd have to really focus on what/how you build...

Okay - what would YOU like to do? Fun city? Romantic? Industrial?

Pat I know that one of your favorites is the Complative - TeeHee - not fair choosing that one  Laughing

Should we do something that we normally would NOT do?

I usually make "pretty" towns with clean air and happy people  Bashfull Female and have never even tried Industrial or Cyperpunk (is that what it is called?)

I try to make Flat land (easier to build on) with "some" water. Temperate (but did do one that is Desert called Silver City - well I started it anyway  Looking around cautiously)

Post feedback and we can put our heads together to come up with a Plan.....

Glad you like the idea - Could be interesting to see what we each do that is different or the same  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Oh Pat - we will be GLAD to wait for you! TeeHee it gives us all a chance to think (try  Looking around cautiously) different ideas. We wouldn't even think of starting without you.

Crips - maybe even by the time you get back from your trip - there will be some NEW MODS to play with??

Hi Pam,

I'll join in on your non-contest  Big Smiley Grin Laughing when Pat! gets back.

It will be interesting to see if your "water ring" idea works out.  Agreed Happy

I've been thinking more along the lines of a co-op city.  One that each person has the hold of for xx amount of time.  They are allowed to add on xx stuff, (or as much as they like), when time is up, they post it back to the forum (specific thread meant just for that game) and the next person checks it out.

To avoid having to store files that are large and which might cause problems, I'll come along after xx time and delete the old saved games from prior messages and people can keep going while passing along the saved game to each other.

I don't know if that is a challenge or not (other than trying to figure out what Im actually saying) but it might be interesting to get something like that going in a co-op cb game going.

Okay, gots ta go, the dieretics are killing me today and the Witcher game is running in the background sucking up CPU time.

I'd like this idea more if there were more localized theme based changes in specific parts of the city...  Just another chance to propogate my biggest wish for SimCity: Societies, mixing of themes in a single city instead of 1 overriding theme...  Smiley Blink
