I just do Not seem to "get it" and getting to the point I feel like I am going to  Crying cry (hey it is a Girl-Thing Okay  Smiley Blink)

If anyone wants to take my recolored textures and create the .xml folders - you can have them and take credit (if you want).

I just want them in my game.

I feel as dumb as a box of rocks and want to THANK you all for trying to help me - I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Here are a couple of my re-textures - more in the "mod" section of this forum.

Nice textures, Pam  Agreed Happy  Agreed Happy

I'm too afraid of messing something up to mod.
So I hope someone will make a downloadable mod of your textures.  Happy Dance

Ahhh Taz Thanks! I hope so also!

I tried to create walkway type textures that would match existing ingame textures - plus add some other kinds I wished were in the game. Some of the scale of the existing ones are Way Off and this drives me crazy  Laughing

The Cobblestone_Quaint is the same texture as the Cobblestone Street from the Progressed "Romantic City" and the Yellow Brick is from Fun City.

Two more - I can create lots and lots of the Artwork - just can't learn programing I guess  Questioning

It's always easier to learn by example in my opinion.  So with that in mind, here are the three xml files that you need to make this mod work as well as the completed SCSPack file.

1. PAM_TEXTURE_INSTALL.XML  This file will be placed in your "\Documents\SimCity Societies\Export\SimCity Societies\Export" folder.
This file holds the instructions on what files we are adding to the game.  It includes lines of text that tell the game we are adding the new textures, as well as the text file to name them, and finally the text that will be displayed for these tiles.
2. PAMTERRAINTEXT.XML  This file will go in the "\SimCity Societies\Localization" modding folder.
This file holds the description of the tiles in plain text so that the game can display the bit of verbage when we open up the texture tool in the game.
3. PAM_DECORATIVESET.XML  This file goes into the "\SimCity Societies\Data\XMLDb\Game\DECORATIVE TERRAIN SETS" modding folder.
This file holds the meat and potatos of the mod and tells the game the id name of each object and assorted other bits of information.
4, All Texture png images go into the "\SimCity Societies\Data\Graphics\Textures\Environment" modding folder.

And of course the SCSPack file can be placed anywhere you like, since you need to double click on it to install it in the right folder.

If you don't have all those folders already present on your hard drive then go ahead and install this mod and those folders will be created for you when you run the game (after you have imported the SCSPack file by double clicking on it, then starting the game, it will unpack those files and create those folder structures for you).

The screenshot shows what they look like in the game.  In my opinion the red bricks need to be scaled down slightly because I feel they are too big compared to the size of the houses in the game.  But that's a personal preference really and if you like them this size then so be it.

I'm sorry but I don't know what the folder structure is for the modding folders on an XP system since Im now running Vista so I have quoted the file locations for a Vista system.

I think the main difference is that on:
Vista the folder structure is located for mods at: "C:\ProgramData\SimCity Societies" and on
XP the folder structure is located for mods at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SimCity Societies\

Okay, Mappam now you try with your remaining textures.  Grab the xml files below and alter them so that they reflect the right file names.  Rename all of them first however to something like PAM1_TEXTURE_INSTALL.XML and PAM1TERRAINTEXT.XML and PAM1_DECORATIVESET.XML.

Then edit all the file names of the files anywhere that you see the old file names inside of all of the xml files.  Then place the files where they need to go as listed above near the top of this message.  Then start the game and see if it creates the PAM1_TEXTURE_INSTALL.SCSPack file for you.  If it did then you know that you got it right.

Hopefully by your having the 3 necessary xml files that are filled out correctly, you'll be able to alter them for more texture packs if you so desire.

CB you are my HERO!!!

I will try this in the morning (hubby got a video for tonight and I am now too tired to try something new  Laughing)

You have been SOOO much help and have shown such patients with me - WOW!

I agree with the red bricks being too large - I need(ed) to see what I have created in the actual game then I can "tweeeeeak" them so they look just right.

Again and again and again Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
