I love all the great stuff on this site, BUT I am still concerned about all the less than stellar reviews.
A Demo for this game would be a great help and probably a help sales wise if all what you guys say is accurate.

silverbullet...remember that nearly ALL the reviewers seem to be reviewing the game as if it was supposed to be SimCity 4 in 3D or a true SC5, which is is NOT and never was to be!  The good reviews seem to be the reviewers who don't go in with that misinformed preconception...

I do agree that a demo would be a good thing and ultimately help sales!

Once you play the game, it's real hard to stop!

I read somewhere that there's supposed to be a demo coming in mid December, but I went out and bought the game anyway. Big Smiley Grin Laughing (I swore I would wait for a demo).
Pat: I agree, it is hard to stop playing this game once you start. but my game's started  freezing midgame, and it's infuriating me, Flaming Mad Flaming Mad I hope they bring out a patch for it soon.

I am so flumoxed by folks having crashing trouble...KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on wood, I haven't crashed once...The only thing I know is that four days before getting the game I did a COMPLETE REBUILD of my Alien...All I did was install about 16 games, including SC:S and do all the Windows and Driver updates....so the system is clean...

There must be something that the game is not jiving w/ on some systems that TM MUST correct...you folks shouldn't be crashing and I, too, hope TM is working hard on the patch.

Hello and Welcome Sandra..sorry you are having to deal with that which ails many SimCity: Societies players.  Some are escaping the woes playing within the game range of what their respective systems can tolerate... so that can be one way of accepting the reality of it all.

I'm playing on a brand new PC..only three games installed..and I've had no crashes  (BSOD..CTD's)..just massive slowdowns at some particular point in each little town I built..which range from 5 to just under 30K pop...  I agree that the population range may not be the core reason for the slowdowns I've experienced.

I do think it can be fixed so everyone doesn't need to run out and buy new PC's for SimCity: Societies to be error free.  I have looked into the SimCity: Societies programing structure..just a peek at specific areas where problems usually are found. I found attempt to use*** code from this assembly during native code initialization which there's (holes, blanks etc)...which indicates an area where what we call "bug's" to occur in an application. It is most likely the result of calling an ****compiled (/clr) function from a native constructor or from dllmain.  Issues like.. not enough space for lowio initialization, not enough space for stdio initialization, and pure virtual function calls (and several others)..and similar initialization calls that dll's control. What's good about all this is these are fixable issues.

If a game starts up and actual play begins in a compromised and not all instructors are on the same page...then during play this opens the possibility for application (game)to  requested the Runtime to terminate..Windows recognizes it as an unusual request, or a way (OS only needs an excuse..anytime ) to terminate and Pow!..there's your message or freeze...which either way ..Windows decides to let you know that the application is no longer responding.

Both of these situation are fixable deals..though nothing will address all the systems as is true with any game...as pat!! mentioned...we all know that is virtually impossible. PC's with ample resource well within the range of Game requirements should find a happy gaming experience.  Seasoned player's like most of us here know enough about our respective PC's to recognize each of our individual expectations.

I love the game..I can build two or three towns in a evening play session..I even fiddle with Mods just to test the waters in that area... it's all about being entertained..that counts most of all.  Smiley Blink

Hopefully..to keep the dollars rolling in for SimCity: Societies ..and all it's players happy the Devs will address these fixable issues.  Or at least admonish players to make adjustments that will promote a successful playing experience.  Keep a positive outlook and attitude..we're all here for each other. Thumbs Up

***edited..so I'm not giving away specific code I've examined

SB, I don't think there will be a demo any time soon...sales are solid enough right now to go without one I guess.  Hang in there!!!
