A Small Town is born!  I'm going for a more true Small Town feel as opposed to the Romantic or Contemplative vibe I had in my first two...started out thinking of going industrial, but I just can't get myself to pull the trigger on creating a polluto-topia!

So, small town it is!

The first,  Route 66 Leading out of town, towards the borderlands...

The second, Town Centre, the intersection of Route 66 and Northland Pike

The third, looking south down Northland Pike, form City Center towards the, uh, 'country estates'!  Trailer parks and Hacienda's!  And some good old fashioned prairie industry!

pat!

I really enjoy seeing the screenshots  Happy Dance  of your towns Pat, you seem to beable to capture the "atmosphere" they require.  Do you plan and build  as you go or do you plan prior then build?
I have actually seen on some forums a while ago where a player drew out his town (another cb game but I can't remember its name anymore) on a piece of paper then created it with the pc. ...now that's dedication.  I'm too lazy to do that  Soapbox Speech with tape across mouth

Thanks RhiannOn!  Very kind!

I first let the terrain and environment dicate where I start, then kind of lay down a big long crossing roads section...then I do have an idea in my head what I want to do but after I lay down my first houses/businesses/venues, it becomes more organic...the key, and the REAL challenge to me in the game, is trying to develop my cities in the way that real cities develop...with sections, areas, etc.  It's like RCI zoning but YOU do it, not the computer!!!

Okay I've fallen in love with one of my cities!! (so far, at least!)

Five more from small town whereever! (Canada, Northern U.S...that kind of thing!)

The first, looking northeast, towards the school zone (three schools, playgrounds, fields and a small schoolhouse on main street in the foreground there!)

The second, looking southwest, from above the town's namesake (the creek) onto the backside of the school zone!

The third, THIS is small town livin'!  There's a Mission, a town meeting hall, a florist, town hall and of course Towne Centre there, then coming back down on the right there's the Sherrif's Office, a general store, a schoolhouse, a midwife, a gazebo and a slightly out of place bus stop (who knows, maybe the bus stops looks will change, i wish there was the option for a bit less modern one!)

The fourth,  firemen puttin' out a trailer fire!

The fifth, the suburbs are born, looking into town towards industry way down on the river bank!

pat!

Oooh!  My baseball fields got nicer!

My gaming lappy is offline right now, but wait till I post the screenies!  First street upgrade to pure small town and the ball field improved itself, a bunch of other stuff...very nifty!

Another set after the street upgrades!

The first, small town streets!  And apparantly, Northland Creek has some sort of Pie festival that I don't know about!! Big Smiley Grin Laughing

The second, Memorial Bridge heading east towards the outlands

The third, even in the trailer part and Hacienda dotted dirt roads of the country, the baseball field got an upgrade when the mood was right!!

The fourth, be it ever so humble, there's STILL no place like home, dirt roads and all! (I note here that the dirt roads did not evolve like in the spiritual town..)

The fifth, River park, in the country...

pat!

Northland Creek is growing, and refining itself!

The first, The Northland Brewery, makers of some of the best micro-brews in the whole upper states, donated Northland Memorial Park, right behind the brewery and near Memorial Bridge...a great place for a game of chess or some outdoor cooking!

The second, near Northland Memorial Park sits the public library, a fine addition to the school zone!

The third, small country businesses and industry fill the dusty roads of Northland Creek's outer habitats!

The fourth, a small town embraces its rustic feel!

Northland Creek shots!  Flat out my favorite city so far!  Much more organic, spaced out...definitley need to train yourself to allow the city to breathe!

The first, Looking south across First Street Bridge towards the section of town really geared towards the high school kids...

The second, looking into town from First Street Bridge with the mini-golf course in the foreground right!

The third, Right smack dab in the middle of town...this house seems a bit run down...creepy, haunted even!

The fourth, Northland Creek founds Northland College, a small town school with big time dreams!  Note frat row along the river bank...and the ever present winmill!

The fifth, on campus, where First Street intersects with Donderlinger Avenue!  The college on the left, president's house and the dean's place there along Donderlinger Avenue and the various venues that cater to the college crowd!

pat!

And the last from the Creek!

The first, Another shot from the campus...see the street artistis along the right side of the street?

The second, rural living on the south side of town...the cemetaries are rumoured to be haunted...that's what they say anyway!

The third, a final snapshot near the center of town!

Flat out this has been my favorite one to build yet!!!

later,
pat!

I have definitely found that the, at least for me, the small town buildings, are my favorites!  Hence why I love this town!
