Frankly all the reviews I have read (Gamespot.  Fileplanet, IGN, etc. ) have given this game bad ratings.
I try never to buy a game until I am able to play a demo and have seen good reviews given by the above formentioned.
For $50. 00 this game does not seem to cut it.
You folks here are actually playing it, so what say you. !!

Silverbullet! I'm LOVING the game....it's subtle, it allows you complete control, and it allows you to tell a story if you want...it's unique to the SC series...Many folks are enjoying it and over time I think we'll realize that the critics missed the mark on this one.  It is DIFFERENT, though...it can be seen as too easy if you're just into making simoleans, but there is a subtlety to the cues and changes that really makes you pay attention.

I've not dove into a game like this in a long long time....thorouughly enjoying it!

The graphics are five star, the game play is unique, although CB says it is like City Life (I never played it but completely trust his judgement)...It has the subtlety of CotN and the graphics of, well, no other builder I've ever played.

I have played all of the previous Sim Cities and loved the those games.  When this came out I realized that it would not be a SimCity 5.  When you keep that in mind that this is truly a different game then I think it can be enjoyed.  I am loving it so far.  I am really trying to pay attention to the subtle changes and just enjoy it.  The graphics are great and I agree with the observation that it is like City Life which was also a game I enjoyed.

I will be playing this game on Vista, when I buy the game that is  Laughing

Strange thing is that this game is Not released as a Full Price Title, here in Sweden....
It's more like a $39.95 price here.

And should the sales of this game be low, it's down to just $15-20 in 2-3 Months.

I do understand that it might be hard to make a demo of this game. At least a Demo that
shows the gameplay correctly.

But it's fun to see that EA is publishing a game, that isn't a clear mainstream game  Happy Dance

Otherwise EA is one very Lazy game publisher. I've seen what Label EA carries in the business world.
It's not a beautiful label that's for sure  Flaming Mad

I'm about ready to reinstall vista again, I just have to figure out how I can have both Vista and Windows XP on the same computer.  Once I can do that, then I will install the game into vista and see how it works out, for me it can't get any worse, so maybe it will crash less than what I experience now which would be a lot of fun to be able to play the game for more than 10 minutes to an hour.

I just tried playing again and only got 12 minutes out of it before I got a unexpected handling crash.  I sure hope that TM is reading all these error reports that Im sending in to Microsoft.  I know the devlopers have access to these reports that are sent in by the users of their own games, though Im not sure if they have to pay MS some monthly fee to access them or not.

I didn't know SimCity: Societies was crashing for you.....
How does the game behave for pat !?

CB Edit: I split off our conversation to a new topic.  By the way, Pat! has told me that the game runs fine on his Alien.

Well I finally managed to reinstall XP Pro after Vista borked the hard drive and kept going into an infinite loop of "Your installation failed, we will now reboot" and I kept letting it do it's thing while I went and had dinner.  When I returned the computer was still rebooting over and over again.  After an hour of trying to figure out how to get just XP back on the hard drive I finally won out of microsoft and got XP back installed, nice and clean (still have to do the Vista upgrade).

But Im pleased to say that SimCity: Societies seems to run fine now.  Granted I only played for about 50 minutes to test it out but it didn't crash during that time.
