Folks, TM has come up with an official maintenance mod to make the game a bit more difficult from the simolean standpoint...this thread has the file AND the description!

Now, don't forget to modify it and "make it your own" as TM said.  I'll be looking into it as I think it will likely give some great clues as to what can be done in the game modding department of xml files.

I will probably wait until TM (or Crowebird! HA!) releases a modding tool to allow us to use or not use them...but I love the details that the Maintenance Mod can bring to the game...for those really looking for more of a bottom-line experience in regards to simoleans, it would be a definite addition!

The maintenance mod is one of those large  mods that have lots of files in them.  So to clean it out by hand would be time consuming, but Im still going to install it.

I'm now back on Vista on my primary desktop, and just installing the patch to SimCity: Societies, then im going to give it a spin and see how it operates.  I too may be hit by the bug that when I get a population close to 5000 the game comes up with a C++ ERROR and shuts down the game.  Im hoping Im one of the lucky ones that doesn't however since it's a completely fresh full install of Vista, but... We'll see... I don't want to say more and jynx myself. Laughing

I don't think I have the courage to modify things yet...such a chicken  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I installed the KFC and Gamestop building but all I see is the original building it was made from and no kfc/gamestop textures.  I have scoured the forums at TM and EA but can't seem to find a fix. 
I removed the two files from the directory but the buildings still show up in the building directory ingame... which is weird.  PS. just now fixed it.......it  helps to do a search thru the "search"  Laughing

Not sure how to fix the disappearing kfc etc

The buildings do look cool at the exchange tho, just a pity the don't show in my game  Crying

C++ ERROR  ---  There it is Flaming Mad

When the C and C++ programming languages became popular they was considered very good languages.

But C++ is performing very slow , when it comes to shuffle large amounts of Graphics Data (as in our newer 3D games).

C++ simply isn't designed for it.

It would be great if Game Programmers earned much more money then they do today.

That would bring some Real Assembler Coders to game programming.

With their small "Routines" we would see an increase in execution speed of our games that's incredible.  Happy Dance

But sadly these programmers are not in the computer game industry.
