Well, Monte Cristo, who brought us Medieval Lords, has a game coming down the pipe that looks like an interesting mesh between SimCity Societies and Sim City 4!

It's called Cities Unlimited and it may have some serious potential!

From what I understand it's an expanded, improved version of their City Life game.  I have the City Life and have been looking forward to when they release Cities Unlimited but I think it's likely next year.

CB...did you like City Life?  I can't remember...this one looks interesting enough...hopefull by next summer maybe?

City Life was okay except that I absolutely loathed the society parts (hmmm go figure) and there were way too many buildings looking like each other all over the place.  Supposedly it is being greatly improved and I hoe that is true.

All in all, I'd say it's a definite buy for me based solely on the City Life game and how much time I did end up putting into it even with things that I didn't like about it I still managed many many hours in the game.

For some reason I want to say February or March of next year but yeah, I would say by summer seems to be about right what with delays and all that happen in that industry.

It does however look to be shaping up nicely IMO.
