Okay, a new city, a new challenge!  This one on the tropical coast....hopefully going capitalistic, we'll see!

The first, something of my standard starting point, w/ city center to be on the right, some nice housing in the foreground left and services (cops, firemen, etc.) in the background.

The second, city center again

The third, services again

Fourth, something I'm trying to see if it clicks...this shot from the more upper scale housing in the foreground, through servcies and then more moderate housing and finally, way in the back on some dirt roads, some slums!  Just to see if I can HAVE slums and still keep those folks happy back there!

later,
pat!

You're a sick man with all these cities you have going Pat!  But I envy you and having the game not crash on you.  Im seriously tempted to either do the upgrade back to Vista since it's sitting on my shelf gathering dust since I bought it on release day or reinstalling XP all over again to see if it helps with this game at all.  I don't get those Runtime errors that others are getting when their cities approach 5000 population, for me it just crashes in some different way each time.  Hmmm, how do I want to spend my monday today.

Oh, and of course, looks to be a nice start to another city in your screenies.  I've avoided the slums purely because I fear the crimewave that they might bring to the rest of the city as they make their way from the slumburbs to where they work.

Thanks CB!  I have NO reason why I'm not crashing at this point (knock knock knock knock on wood!!!).  The game is blazing for me but once I get to about 5,000 folks (or have a city w/ no bus stops/subways and thus tons of cars) I do get some lag.

I'm very interested to see if I can have some slums but treat them purely as low-income housing.  Basically try to have them, keep them mildly happy and see what kind of evolution I get and how that section of town affects the rest of my town.  Basically, I'm looking to see if I can get some 'split' evolution OR how having low-income housing pulls down the rest of what hopefully will be a magnificent capitalist heaven!!!

Spending a Monday re-installing your OS...now THAT'S a headache just waiting to happen...ghargh!  good luck!!!

Four more!

The first, city center alight at night, but like many city centers, the folks go home!!

The second, 'Rogue Dude Shut Down My Realtor!!! Big Smiley Grin Laughing"

The third, the dicotomy of Wellstone Beach....the slums to the left, giving way to the more stable, yet still low cost housing on the right...all leading to what I hope will be a gleaming capitalist center further towards town center!

The fourth, the slums with all the businesses they entail!  Tattoo parlor, Dive Bar, Soup Kitchen..it's all good for those toiling in such conditions!!!

pat!

Three more!  Interesting thing w/ this city...it hasn't 'evolved' at all yet...got a solid population of 3,500 or so...I think that the slum/tenement section is holding my overall city energy back...which is okay, i'm trying to see what happens w/ having a 'rough' side of town as well as the good parts!

anyhow!  this one is starting to shape up nicely and it REALLY comes to live at night!

First, the fire brigade putting out a couple fires at my tenements!

Second, getting the gold medal for Prosperity

Third, a shot down Main Street, from the high class tower homes towards city center, with the nice financial high rise in the background!

pat!

bah, you make me want game, but I already spent too much money buying orange box (granted that was like a month ago) then guitar hero 3 then super mario galaxy, and now I need to get crysis, and this and Im a damn college student with no money, and all the games come out now. . .  and naturally I am big on reviews and gamespot only gave it a 6, but I know they know nothing about reviewing a city builder so I am just at a crossroad. . .

but anyway :)

how is everyone?

Yeah the back of those row houses to me resemble beach houses that I've seen in magazines over on the east coast somewhere I think.

More nice screens.  Thanks Pat!

Woops, didn't see crowebird sneak in there before me.  Everything is just peachy over here other than the SimCity: Societies game crashes on my 'puter and I bought a faulty OEM 6 CD Changer off of eBay and am now stuck with it and it has a bad changer in it so it won't even load up any CD's, but other than that, Im not gonna complain.

How about yourself?  Are you getting the good grades?

CB!  Thanks man!  The fire truck action is pretty nifty!

Crowebird!  Good to see you!  You should know better than to listen to mainstream reviewers....actually, if you read the reviews, even the 5s and 6s, most of the reviews are positive but they fall back on the "It isn't SimCity 4 in 3D and it's too easy to make money" thing....It's become apparent to me from playing it that money isn't the issue that TM had in mind here, but I do agree that making it harder to keep money once made would be a great mod!

Stay on top of your grades man!!!

all is well, and I am doing fine in school, just aced my last math test, granted u of m put me in pre-calc (but that says nothing about me as I aced calc in high school and the AP test :) )

but computer science is where  I am most concerned and got an a-/b+ got screwed over on a project, but I believe their output is wrong -- after 1800 days of simulation. . .  but oh well.

yea, I am keeping the game on the lookout, but a lot of player reviews gave it bad marks to, but thats why I come here, but Im going to see what the patch brings.   Also any more word on the anno expansion? I tried looking it up but found nothing.

Hello and Welcome Nice to see you crowebird

I know well the rigors of college..and how much fun time is sacrificed..Mmm?  ..having to wait on games...if I'd had that problem I may have defected and wound up degreeless and veeerryy disappointed in myself... so hang in there..   Agreed Happy

(My opinion on Game Comments and rating analysis) .. for SimCity Societies...I'm holding out for pat!! or any other seasoned CBer to reach a population above 50K and more..as I have stalled my playing on several maps in the 35-50K range.. with aspirations for a 100K+ Metropolis.. I have a monster gaming PC..brand new and though I have no crashes..I've ground it to a halt..and have to back off..  <shrug> maybe TM intended us to just make populations under 10K cities... I've been playing the game since my preview copy arrived some time ago.  I'm sad to hear CB has had some game experiences we all want to avoid..if at all possible.  Sticking Tongue Out

The last game I tested was CotN and I nervously thought it was pretty hefty..but manageable and for playability passed the crucial final cut better than most releases.  I hope that all those players who are trying SimCity:Soc as first time gamers realize the game is truly a graphical marvel.. as most of the old timer CBer already know..and appreciate it.   wink
