I read over at Tilted Mill that there is no need for roads at all, someone started a town and put no roads in, people walked about to get where they were going, and there were no cars, so no carbon monoxide issuing out into the atmosphere, you can still place subways and they will be used, so I'm going to try this, I realise that the Fireman won't get his truck to fires but I have to see how this works. Well, you'll also virtually eliminate the cars just by scattering subway stations all over the place too.  I had a failrly small city and placed a lot of subway stations all over the landscape and probably close to 99% of the cars disappeard from the city.  Apparently the game doesn't take into account a crowded subway, the subways and busses are never crowded so it's always better to take the subway or bus than it is the private car in SimCity: Societies.  In that way you get to still keep your city safe by using police and firemen, because remember, no roads, and no police cruisers cruising around.

Yep, I think I need at least a few roads, I had a couple of fires, and they took out a whole row of terraced housing, and as you've mentioned, the police can't get around the city, so I had several criminals at large, trial and error---trial and error. Big Smiley Grin Laughing

No houses = no people.
No people =  no game
