And bought the game Big Smiley Grin Laughing Big Smiley Grin Laughing
First impressions----I like it, Happy Dance Happy Dance I'm now busily cramming huge ammounts of humble pie in my mouth,(excuse the crumbs) Laughing
It's a lot better than I thought it would be, beautiful graphics, and (at the moment) smooth gameplay, I started off with a small village(I can't wait to unlock those mud huts), Big Smiley Grin Laughing and placed cottages and farms, I'm slowly beginning to realise that if I want a building that needs 6 knowledge points, I'd better have a surplus of those points, or place some knowledge radiating ornaments, but I'm in the green for now, and the amount of 'themes' and buildings are awesome. Agreed Happy
At the moment I'm playing the "relaxed with unlimited money" mode, just to get into it and find out what I'm doing, there are already cheats out there, but I don't think they're needed, the game gives you 'freeplay' where all the buildings are unlocked, or "unlimited money" where you have an infinite amount of cash, 'relaxed' mode is the easiest of the 3 modes, so I can't see why anyone would need the cheats.
So after about 2 hours of playing a great big Thumbs Up from me.
PS I was pleasantly surprised to find out the game cost £30 and not £35,and seeing as I had £7.50 on my reward card, I got it for £22. 50. now that's what I call a result Happy Dance

Good for you Sandra! Ummm hon - you missed one little crumb on your left cheek..... Ssssh..... Don't tell anybody

I went into my Gamestop to pick up my copy and asked them to hold it for about 2 weeks.

We are leaving for a cruise tomorrow (Sunday - TeeHee 41st anniversary) and I KNEW that if I picked this game up I would Not get the packing done - or forget something we really really needed  Laughing

I seem to have developed a little OCD in my old age - since retirement??? And seem to get a little more obsessed with a new game than I use to  Smiley Blink

By NOT actually having this game in my home I avoid loading and playing. It also gives me something to look forward to when we return. I am looking forward to reading more reviews/observations also.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all - Cya in a week  Hello and Welcome

Mappam!  Have a great trip!

Sandra..this does NOT surprise me! Big Smiley Grin Laughing

The game is addictive and soothing in a way that's rare (this is another of the Children of the Nile things about the game!).  I feel I can play it, keep on top of things, put it on slow and watch my city...watch the people...it's alive almost!

The graphics...oh WOW.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all - Cya in a week  Hello and Welcome

Hi Pam,
You and I are in the same boat, you literally and me figuratively.  Smiley Blink  I'll be gone all next week too.  Agreed Happy  Except that my game has not arrived, but should get here next week.
Going to ride in the semi that hubby drives and go down to S. CA to visit with my grandson and family on Thanksgiving. Hubby can't deliver anything on turkey day anyway and he (we) will be there in S. CA, so it seemed like a good time to visit.
This is all possible because my daughter and son-in-law are here for the winter and can do the chores, bless them. Agreed Happy  Agreed Happy  First time I've been away from the homestead in 5 years!!

Anyway, you and I are going to have a lot of catching up to do, reading all the tips, etc. And I intend to read em all, and maybe I'll get a good start early on.

To y'all,
Repeating what Pam said, HAPPY THANKSGIVING, and cya in a week (ready to resume gaming. Laughing)

Mappam:
Congratulations on your anniversary, and have a great time on the cruise, when you get back you can load the game and tell us what you think. Agreed Happy

Pat: I can see a lot of COTN in this game, and that can only be good, I finally unlocked the huts and yutes, and when it's nighttime, they have sticks in the ground with bare flames  Big Smiley Grin Laughing Big Smiley Grin Laughing
Authenticity, that's what I like Agreed Happy

Sandra, this may be the most subtely relaxing game I've played in years.  I've played all the simcity games before but the way the micromanagement held you at a distance, I mean I liked it, but it never sucked me in.  This one, once you begin to get the feel for the 'concept' of the game...the fact that you're dealing with societal flow and the subtle changes that occur with the buildings...

I just put the damn thing on slow speed when I get a chance and can spend an hour rolling through my city, checking out the details, clicking on the sims and finding out how everyone is feeling...

Once my city got up to over 6,000, I really got some lag though...but I'm playing at 1900x1220 with nearly everything maxed out...so I've no one to blame but myself!!!

Hi guys, I have been lurking but haven't posted in a while.  I finished my Masters and got a promotion so I have been getting a whole new kind of homework Laughing.  I now can start playing games again and was waiting on this one.  I hate that a lot of people have been slamming the game when it's clear it is not a direct sequel.  I have to say I am enjoying the game and I am getting ready to play more on first city.  I think there will lots of goodies to discover with this game and I am loving it so far Agreed Happy.  You too have fun trips and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

 Hello and Welcome Hi Mona

Great to have you visit us again.  High fives on your HiEd progress... all the effort is worth it.

I'm back playing a few hours a day.  I have several games I'm catching up on..so plenty of entertaining hours to look forward to.. please keep us posted on what you're playing and how it is for you.   Smiley Blink

As I'm observing all the posted screens for SimCity Societies ...though am waiting patiently for someone (of our prolific player's) to create and experience a REAL CITY...population over 50 to 100K.. and comments that may accompany such a feat.   Looking around cautiously  Making little Burgs and Hamlets seem to be the norm gaining game familiarity, which is expected.  The graphics are really nice and pleasant, a real delight for long hours of City Building.

Again..hearty welcome back.. Agreed Happy

6000 Population, I don't think my PC will handle that!! I've reached 2000 without any problem, but my settings are all on low and my resolution is 1012x756 or whatever it is. Big Smiley Grin Laughing
I placed a "dive bar" once and my village/Town spawned some undesirables, so I placed a jail and had them "rounded up"  Big Smiley Grin Laughing
A small village with a "SWAT" team roaming the streets in riot gear, that was funny. Big Smiley Grin Laughing
