First of all it's important to know that Hellgate: London is beeing compared
to the Diablo game series, to such a degree. It's what I call stupidity  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I have been playing the game for a few hours and the addiction is starting to kick in  Thumbs Up
So far the game has been running flawlessly in DirectX 10 --- It looks really great !!
The only problem is when I try to take screenshots. Files are there but they are "zero byte" size.
Kinda sad as I wanted to upload a few screenshots  Crying

I've borrowed some game descriptions from "Wiki - sites"  Laughing

Gameplay

Hellgate: London is an action role-playing game that has many elements that set it apart.

Randomization: Hellgate:London builds heavily upon the core design of roguelikes by using random generation of maps, monsters, and loot to allow for a high degree of replayability [4].

Multi-Perspective: Hellgate:London can be played in either a third or first-person view. Melee classes default to a third-person view, whereas ranged classes default to a first-person view.

Subscription: Hellgate: London can be played offline or online without a fee. Players can pay a monthly fee to gain additional content over time, including new areas, weapons, monsters, classes, quests, events, titles, game modes, and many other perks.

From what I read I have a feeling most online players choose to play 'without a fee' so far....

(it's easy to picture CB in the subway station, selling stuff at a .... price  Laughing)

Here's an exerpt from a review that says allot about Hellgate: London.

"However, it did point out the surprising level of depth in the game's loot, equipment customisation and character development."

hahahahaha, I think your're right, I can see myself there doing that too. Sticking Tongue Out

So what is it about overall?  I mean is it fantasy rpg or is it more futuristic rpg?  Does it feel like a first person shooter to you, is there much character customization?  What are the goals of the game?  I like to know what the gamer feels not what the publishers or developers say their game is all about if you know what I mean.  Often times a developer thinks the game should play one way but the gamers feel it plays another way and that might not always be a good thing and sometimes it is though.

Curious minds are dying to know before that extra $50.00 flys out my pocket on something else wink

Actually (I hate to say this  Big Smiley Grin Laughing)  the gameplay feels allot like Diablo II.

It is very addicting to play  Happy Dance

Weapon customisation And Character customisation is Great, and makes for a very interesting Game !!

I'm uploading a few Screenshots from a test with a Blademaster Character (I used Fraps to take the screenshots)

First Screenie will make Pat run out and buy the game (Look at ad on the wall) :

I have to say that  Hellgate: London is getting better and better, the more you play the game  Happy Dance

Every Subway Station is a "safe place" to be --- where you do trading, free healing, get Quests  etc.

Everywhere else --- streets, dungeons etc. are  Randomized  Thumbs Up
That make the game very unpredictable. And more fun to play.

3D engine seems to be "state of the art" .

The game is actually better then what you can see in the demo.

Here's the game's Classes:

Guardian

Blademaster

Marksman

Engineer

Summoner

Evoker

Six Classes is more then enough in this game, that's for sure....

Think I'm going to try an Evoker, just to look at the magic in this game  Smiley Blink
I believe it's best to "test run" all characters, to see which one you like best.

About Quests in HGL. It's very different then the usual RPG !!

After you read below, you will be hooked on this game  Laughing

Quests:
The game will offer three different quest types:

Storyline - Special "scripted" quests following the storyline tightly and moving it forward. Key quests will be shared here, but the journey between those quests is different for each player.

"'Template"' - Template quests are pretty straightforward. They are built off eight basic formulas: collect, explore, escort, infestation, hunt, travel/talk-and-do, use item, and operate object.

Task - Generic quests believed to have more random objectives, given by NPCs out in the game world. Completing these quests increases one's reputation to unlock class-specific quests,n˜ as well as revealing new items and giving experience for new levels. Many tasks are in fact randomised, and the NPC may or may not appear in a given game. Some tasks are harder to find than others.

What a game  Happy Dance

wow graphics look really good
I'm interested already but - how does it play
Are you playing to see how the story unfolds or because you want to level more or?...
Right off the bat, not being set in the middle ages gives it a fresh breath.

It sounds like a great game UC, unfortunately I can't seem to enlarge the screenshots, so don't know what they look like, I don't think it's a game for me though, I don't like fantasy things. Big Smiley Grin Laughing
