Hello,

Here is my first tip for SimCity: Societies:

1.  When you build a firestation or a police station, left click on the built building and then press Ctrl+1 through 9 this is a bookmark of the building.  So when you have a fire happen in your city, you needent spend 14 minutes trying to find the firestation, you can simply then press the associate 1-9 hotkey and the firestations property card will popup, so that you can expedite dispatching the firemen to the fire.

Steps:
1. Build firestation.
2. Left click on built firestation and press Ctrl+1 through 9
3. When fire breaks out in your city, left click on the fire icon in the upper left of your screen which will take you to the building that is on fire
4. Press the  (1 through 9 key which ever is the hotkey for your firestation)
5. Press the dispatch firemen button in the lower right of the firestations property card.
6 Left click the building that is on fire on your screen.

I know I always make things sound overly complicated but all Im trying to say is that you can hotkey buildings that you place in the 1 through 9 keys by opening the buildings property card and then pressing the Ctrl+ 1 through 9 or maybe it's 1 through 0 on the keyboard.

I especially liked the mega storm though I wish it would last longer on the screen, seemed it was over very fast (yeah, I know what can I say...)

Everytime that I play the game (even in the original simcity games like SimCity 4) I end the game with a disaster.  So when Im done playing for that session, I save the game then I rain down terror and destruction on my peeps till I feel satisfied with the destruction.  Then I just have to remember to NOT click the save button else Im screwed big time.

And for some reason in SimCity: Societies it's real easy to make that mistake, Im so used to a confirmation when I want to quit a game that subconsciously I think that the question the game asks me when I quit to the desktop says "Are you sure you want to quit" and I click yes, but in reality it's asking me if I want to save first, and don't ask me why, but I followed through with the save procedure on one city and added all that destruction that I just did on accident to the save file. I didn't know about the bookmarking...thanks CB.
I have yet to build a firestation..I think i scrap my town (as I don't like them) and start another before the station is unlocked.

Yeah so far I've not managed to get any great cities going before I scrap them and put them away for another day, Im going to try this weekend though to see just how large of a city I can get going.  The bookmarking of the firestations will greatly reduce the funstration when a fire breaks out in the city, the only problem being that if I have multiple firestations then I won't really know which one Im bring up by using the 1 through 9 keys unless I can picture it in my mind like 1 is the north station, 2 is the west etc etc etc.  But overall it still makes it tremendously easier once that inevitable fire breaks out.

I have found that you don't need to put houses/some shops directly by a road/street.
Even if the house is placed further back from a road/street people still move in and  walk from their house down to the road where they drive off in their vehicles.
It is great because now I can add longer paths and put more decor in  Happy Dance.

Yeah while the game runs for me I've been moving more and more homes away from sitting right on the streets, it allows for a more natural look to the neighborhoods because not everybodys home is sitting right on the roadway, some are set further back than others which is more natural appearing IMO.  I guess you could say it looks to be less of a tract housing project.

If/When people start pumping out new mods of new buildings we should have a great variety of homes to place which should also remove the tract feeling that the houses get right now with only 3 homes per type.
