I have a book of "castles, forts and walled cities of the Middle Ages" and would LOVE to build one or more of these - or try to recreate them.

Is there a way to do this in any of the CB games?
# In Stronghold 2 I would really really mess up my economy if I layed out a design at the start of a game.
# In Settlers 6 there aren't any buildings that are "castle" related (or am I missing something?)
# In 1701 there aren't any Castle buildings.
# Is there a game I am missing that Might allow me to atempt this?

Any ideas? Stronghold seems to be my best bet - just try it and not worry about the people leaving - right?

The more I think about this - the more I want to try it.....

1701 has castle buildings. You must have aristocrats before they become available. But you build your castle in sections, so you might be able to recreate a certain castle.  Agreed Happy
Have fun, and don't get discouraged trying to get aristocrats. The $$'s roll in faster as you progress in the game. But the aristocrats are fussy about their wants and get awfully mad if you don't supply them.  Flaming Mad
P.S. Be careful that your warehouses don't get full, or you will have a rat invasion. Sell your excess products to the free trader (he buys anything) or AI players if it's what they want.  Agreed Happy

Oh and put your castles in 1701 on a seperate island so that you have plenty of space to work with.

Also I thought that SH2 had a castle building part of the game that allowed you to build a castle and let loose the AI on it to see if it stood up well or not, although if so it's probably tied into some sort of resource limit which could be a problem.

Isn't there a game out there called Knights and Castles with Cows!  Or something like that.  I don't know anything about it but since it has the word castle in the title, maybe it will be something more along the lines of allowing you to recreate a castle.

Maybe you'd just need some cheat codes in SH2 to allow you to buff your economy so that you can recreate what you would want without messing up your economy.  Or maybe the editor will allow you to build the castle you want.

Thanks for the info  Thumbs Up

I googled Knights and Castles and found only one game that was close - a kids game TeeHee.

I looked at the castle building options in Settlers 6 and you can build a wall around the existing castle to make it look more - well large I guess - but you can't expand the game model.

I ended up going into the mod section of Stronghold 2 and building to my hearts content. I then started a Peace Map and tried to "model" a castle design as I added buildings and walls. It came out pretty well actually and using different buildings and walls I was able to get a decent castle with fortress/walled city.

Kind of a fun project  Sticking Tongue Out

a friend of mine, how ever mysterious he wants to be about reading here, has suggested you may also want to get a copy of Stronghold 1 or the original, it should be very cheap and has a great a simpler and fun editor for making castle via the editor map maker.

I'm just curious if you ever followed-up on the suggestion to get the original?

I didn't play the game much, but I did note that one map was sort of an island specifically intended for a castle. There's a "free build" option on the main menu. It looks like it and some of the other options would be easier the #2 version.

No - I never found it. I suppose I could have looked on Ebay etc but in 2007 I was not that familiar with that type of shopping.

Wow - Oct of 2007! I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday  Laughing
