I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this but it is kind of general  Smiley Blink

Okay this is what happened - I was in Wal-Mart today looking for 1701 and Stronghold 2 just jumped into my cart! It probably thought since it was "on sale" I wouldn't notice til I got home (or my hubby would Not notice it on the Credit Card Bill......)

So now that I have this game I am getting cold feet - should I keep it? Is it worth loading and playing? Are there any tips/hints/links that will help me if I do load it?

I have looked in every shop/store in our area and Nobody has 1701 - I can order it from Amazon.com for about $18 - should I go ahead or wait til the 'mod' builder is available?

I look forward to reading what you have to say - now I am going back into Settlers 6....

I think that Pat! and Lengo are now your new best friends.

I played SH2 but I kept my playing to the castle builder where you can build a castle like you desire and then set loose a wave of enemies upon it to see how it stands up against them.  This was always fun to me to come up with new ideas (new to me anyway) of ways to thwart the enemies entry into my castle, whether that be from multiple walls, or funneling the ai troops into ambushed areas marked by my archers or whatever.

Pat has mentioned that S6 is more of a kingdom builder.  So to me SH2 is more of a castle builder and was rather enjoyable when I played it.  It's one of the few games where I played the campaign (or most of it anyway) instead of jumping right into the other portions of the game.  Wish I knew where I put my SH discs, I'd like to give it another load up one of these days and see if I can come up with better ways of buring the opposing troops with my barrels of burning oil falling from the castle walls and of course laying tar pits to be ignited by your archers when the opposing troops walked over them was always a barrel of fun for me.

If memory serves me, and it's full of holes lately, there was both a miltary side and an economic side to the game which in my opinion is a HUGE plus!

I love Anno 1701 so no matter what, Im always going to say get it as fast as you can.  But tha'ts me.  Im sure someone will tell you to wait for the addon and buy them both in a packaged deal.  But Im inpatient to serve my new lil' peeps so I must always have a true CB style game upon release or as close to release as I can get.  They just make me happy watching their cutsey animations and me constantly trying to please my subjects/citizens/whatever you they are called dependant on the game in question.

I'd keep it if I were you, but only if you like castle building and RTS thrown in together.  I think it's one of the better made games of yesteryear.

Don't you just hate those pesky games jumping into your cart without invitation.  Happens to me regulary down at bestbuy and frys electronics.  I really need to get a cage put around my cart to try to prevent it Laughing

Thanks CB - I do feel SOO much better knowing that I am not the only one that has had games (and books) just jump into my shopping trolly!!

I will go ahead and load Stronghold (since it will be awhile before the Credit Card statement comes in  Soapbox Speech with tape across mouth) and over dinner tonight I casually mentioned that I had looked for a game and normally it is $40 and - wow guess what - I can get it from Amazon for ONLY $18!! Hubby just rolled his eyes (he is NOT a gamer) and mumbled something like 'whatever'......

So first thing tomorrow 1701 will be ordered and prolly be here mid-week.

Shhhh - don't tell....
