Typically it's people with allot of money to burn (or dad's money  Laughing ).
Because they are buying the most exotic parts + cooling parts you can buy.

I seldom see them discuss a game, other then FPS in games....

okay, again, NOT a shooter fan...but oh good lord i've NEVER seen so many through-the-roof good reviews...

So i'll bite.....

Anyone else going to grab this?  I am (did!).

pat!

Yep, I bought this approx six days ago and all I can say is WOW.  It is great!!!!
I love the 1950's theme and the atmosphere is excellent.  Poor Mr Bubbles - I don't like killing him just to get to the girl..but I  gotta  do wot a gal's  gotta  do  Sticking Tongue Out   Big Smiley Grin Laughing.  Sometimes I "rescue" her other times I don't  Soapbox Speech with tape across mouth .  Is a bit eerie when the small girl says no, no, and tries to slap you.
The ambience/atmosphere is so well done.   Do you wear headphones Pat11?

I would class this as the best game of this genre out this year...very original/well made/thought out game.  It runs smooth ...I have had no crashes/freezes etc.

This  fps has added weapons like the plasma, crossbow, napalm and lots of others and if you are  looking for something completely different from the "normal" fps this game is it.  The hacking puzzle of the machines is a crafty idea..  There is so much to see and lots going on in this game.  It is sort of spooky  too.

I give this game 10/10.
There is a demo out.
I've posted a screenshot of some wall posters in the game to give an  idea of the theme setting/era and a screenshot of a small part of the undersea world.

I don't know what copy protection Bio uses in the US ?

But the Euro version uses 2 protections

It uses an advanced version of SecuRom + Activation over internet.

Thing is you can only install the game 5 times (5 activations)  Flaming Mad

I was reading that sales is far from the expected (I understand that)

Hence it's believed that P - versions is being DL/bought instead  Crying

I didn't buy Bio, I don't own it in any form.

This CP is kinda worse then Starforce !!

The only thing I  needed to do on the install of BioShock was  a CD key check and an activation, but that didn't bother me as I have a verification check  each time I start Steam up when I want to play hldm or Halflife1/2 single player so it was nothing new really.

I don't know about the 5 x's activation limit  soz.  I've had a look thru my manual but I couldn't see anything like that written there nor was there any mention of it when I installed my game.  Why on earth would there be a limit when you pay good money for the game?  That I can't understand Questioning  It would be like buying a new car and only being able to get a WOF 5x's before you can't drive it on the road anymore..that would suck.

I believe that FPS games like BioShock sounds best with headphones.

Yep agree, you gotta have a dark room  and headphones with these very atmospheric/ambient  games.

I finished the game last night and wow it was all on at the end . Great, great game and for me I will definately be replaying it.  I keep hearing in my mind the "little sister' saying no,no,no,.no or Mr Bubbles ..I think I played it too intently.  It's worse when you go to  bed and you can still see the gameplay in your mind when you close your eyes  Laughing.

The thing with BioShock's Activation is that you can only Install it 5 times..
After that the game is useless.

In other words the 6th time you need to install, you must buy a New Game  Crying

Sure it might be enough with doing 5 installs..

But if someone have problems with the game or windows, he/she might use up the 5 installs and render the game useless..

I do understand that people get upset about such an issue..

They will probably patch away the copy protection after 12-18 months. That's when I might buy that game  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I did try the Demo and the game seems to have a great atmosphere  Smiley Blink

I hope "Hellgate: London" doesn't have any crazy copy protection. I want to buy that game  wink

Online activation usually has a limit between 3 and 10 times, with of course5 being the average times.  *Most* reputable companies will allow you to call them to get more activations put on the serial number BUT you should only need to activate once per computer as long as you don't go changing the hardware.  Like in two worlds, you should get some sort of activation key, whether it's written to the registry by the game or given to you to write down or both, this key can usually be used to reactivate the game if you've not changed the hardware should you decide to reformat windows but not changed the hardware.

Even with all of that said, I HATE online activation systems and find that they are far too intrusive.  They need to quit being so damn cheap and if they wish to protect their product then give me a USB key that I need to plug into my computer.  Sure, some people will lose them, but mine will end up on a giant bailers keyring for when I wish to use them.

Anyway, people crack online activations all the time either through key generators or other methods.  It's not like the servers actually have a copy of every serial number created, they just use an algorythm to check that the serial number matches the way it should and then against those that have been submitted already.

Me thinks that there are companies selling the devs and publishers false hopes that their online activation system will cut down on piracy and give them more profits.  The one's that are getting more money out of it, is the ones that are selling them the copy protection system.

Anyway, sorry to interupt the Biosock discussion.
