I tend not to try to think about things, it makes my head hurt too much.

HA!  This is kind of like me at work this week...talk about zero productivity...REALLY struggling with the pre-season doldrums here.....gar!  Back on topic....

Playing the Two Worlds Demo actually has me thinking about playing Gothic 3 through again...not sure why!

Hello and Welcome  Thanks for the great game run through CB... I get killed all the time too.  Why I looked for a "key" for attack ..is because my mouse is "dead"..other than the scroll wheel to pan in and out.  The only time I have a cursor is when there's an "F#" key menu activated..and I suppose that is normal.

Like pat mentioned..I couldn't figure out how to "pick up" anything..or how to activate other options.  Basically I could move my character..run into something that would kill me...or get me displaced to another area..where it started over again.

I'm the world's worst RPG player..I've admitted it repeatedly..but even in Gothic 3..as lame as I am, I did manage to roam around for awhile .."alive"..  Now I could play Diablo..and Sacred..to my own satisfaction..just not as well as a true hardcore RPGer...and I have a few of those types in the family.   Laughing

Will I buy this game?...probably..but not likely to be the one who plays it.

It took me a few moments to figure out how to loot and or pick up items off of the ground, then I remembered some old RPG that I had played years ago and pressed my "space" bar key and it picked up the item, looted the bodies, opened the chests, and lock picked the doors.

Woooops, just realized, I split the topic with a subject of Two Words Conversation.  Bashfull Male

I don't really care to have things be auto targeted by the direction my character is faced, it loses target if I twist the lil guy the wrong way which isn't a good thing in my opinion.  I'd much rather have my mouse freedom to choose what target Im going after and have it locked on it until one of us is dead, then rinse and repeat.  I guess this is one of those titles that has their own creative style of hotkeys and how it is controlled instead of going with what has been tried and and found to work especially well in other MMORPG's or just other RPG's in general.  But again, I have to think that the majority of this oddity comes from having it be a console game converted to be a PC game.  I think someone mentioned that it was developed simultaneously for the console as well as the PC, but I find that hard to swallow that they would have two teams working on the same game, but rather easy to swallow that they designed for the console and ported it to the PC.

As mentioned, it's not a bad looking game, though the voice acting is terrible, but I can live with that by turning off my speakers, the world environment for the most part is very pleasant to look at, though the close ups of when my character is ported to the conversation screens is bizzaro to me.  The face of the person who's doing the speaking to me has no facial animation other than his mouth moves, reminds me  of a dummy of a ventriliquist.  I had happened upon 3 groms by accident and obviously Im not going to be able to defeat them so I tried running back to town and I guess I got close enough to one of the NPC's that I was ported to a conversation screen again, which was making me laugh this time because the groms that were chasing me walked into view as I was talking to the NPC and waited patiently for the discussion to be concluded before killing me.  Wasn't that nice of them to be so patient and not interupt the horrible voice over acting!?!  It was another one of those spots in the game where I peed a little bit from laughing so hard.

I really found the game to be obnoxiously difficult for an area of just starting out.  To pit me up against 2 or more of those grom creatures and have me burn pots of health potions or mana potions seemed to me to be quite excessive.  Maybe that's just the way the demo is and that the full game starts off in an area that is a bit easier.  Maybe not.

Smiley Blink  Nice of you to post your thoughts and experiences CB. I chalk my problems up to being a lame player.. even if I wanted to be a RPG player..I don't think I could succeed in this game.  I played and replayed the beginning so many times..that I'm weary.  Would a tutorial help..maybe some folks..probably not me. <sigh>  Sticking Tongue Out

I figured pat would fly through this...and explain what needs to be done.. UC has been playing for awhile..and must be one heck of a great fighter..of course he has the full game too.. maybe he can shed some light on how to succeed..without injury.  I'm all ears..well forum type "ears at least." My favorite is to have the main Weapon on LMB !
Then have a healing spell on the RMB !

If you have a healing spell in the demo just place it in one of the 3 active spell slots...
Then in game press X until the Yellow ring on lower left interface is around it.
After that you will have a healing spell on the RMB

Under the slot for the main weapon is 2 smaller slots. you can place other weapons there,
and during the game press R to cycle trough up to 3 weapons...

Good luck with the Demo !!!

On the pics I have my healing spell on no#7 in the lower left.

Just press X and cycle the yellow ring so it's over "7"

That makes the healing spell convenient on the RMB.

This horse is for sale... Just feed it and give him some water and the horse is just like New  Laughing

First off, CB, your write up on your demo run is hilarious!
I'll try the demo, but I remember seeing the trailer and thinking this looks like an eyecandy fighting game that makes you occasionally click on an npc: Now its an RPG!!!
Lots of flashy moves, mounted fighting...but I saw there is lockpicking and multiplayer...hmmmm
Im not a rogue lover at all, but I *LOVE* to pick locks (and to skin animals...I dunno why...well I do, but long story)
If any of you played Gothic 1 - Now THAT was a lockpicking system (hell that was just 1 ULTRA AMAZING game: period).
G2 dumbed it down and G3 (/gag)...anyway.
And the multiplayer? very interesting...if people can start capmaigns, or missions etc together, great!
If it's going to be like Diablo:

(rambling check)
Ok I'll try it tonight *corsses fingers*

d/l the demo last night
Definitely a suprise and in a good way.
Who ever said this was like a mix of Sacred and Gothic was dead on.
At first I thought Oblivion, but then as soon as I started moving and talking you npc's I thought Gothic, def Gothic.
I did a bunch of stuff last night but none of it like what you guys were doing. I didnt find any cities, per se
killed tons of bandits and groms (dont fight the bears or silver wolves).
Do you notice that installing Aegis physics lags your machine?
Also I notice this game has that same 'too bright' effect as Gothic 3.
But still, I love to collect stat based gear, and I love solving quests, I think I'll pick this up today

I think it's an exiting RPG game with lots of freedom in the gameplay....

I have been playing it for 20 days now, and the game is keeping my interest up.

Going to boot it up soon  wink
