Smiley Blink  I keep the games handy that I know I will return to...eventually.  Sometimes I just burn out on the game demand..or just go stale with my strategy..(and I play mostly strategy games)..so change of scenery helps.

I'm a faithful fan of games that have delivered all those wonderful hours of entertainment..success, just plain ol FUN.  So once in awhile I like to revisit those games...the nostalgia I guess.  Also like CB...time has no meaning when I'm immersed into a game that has such great offering of player concentration. When I was younger and healthier..hours to days just to complete a beta could occur without a blink of an eye.. now I'm more regulated in single setting ..which seems to be working alright.   Big Smiley Grin Laughing

The BAD games..well if they were really baaadd I simply forgot about them..probably have a dusty box full of them somewhere... Sticking Tongue Out

Well, there was one bad game that I'll never forget. It's called Outpost. Talk about dogs!  Others have come and gone, but that one was so sorry, I'll never forget it.

But the real question is, what's hot now, and what's coming up? I looked at some videos on YouTube about Two Worlds, and I don't think I'll like that, despite how good it looks. RPGs and I don't get along. WHERE'S A GREAT CITY BUILDER? I'm hungry! I think I may look into Rome: Total War, or Medieval TW 2. But, I think Sierra or somebody ought to pick up my idea for a game. I'd go for it in an instant, automatically --- instamatic!  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Smiley Blink  I'm in the same Boat..RPG's are not my strong suit as a player.. I sure hope Sim Societies isn't a bust..though I have limited my criticism of Caesar IV, I do hope it is an improvement over some the known limitations.

New game ideas.. that would be nice. They've regurgitated the same themes so much..that "new concept" would be really refreshing.   Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Rome Total war and the medieval total war games are far from being a city building game, unless you really like combat Im afraid you may not really like them.  Sure you get to build some structures for the towns you control, but you don't actually build them, they are just built in a dialog and add whatever they are going to add to the game.  There is no city layout placement of things either.  It's more about conquest than anything else.  I've got all of them (all the total war series of games) and I don't play them any more because they just don't do things better than some other RTS or TBS games do in my not so humble opinion.

Like Lengo, Im hungry for another city building game.  I'd even take Ceasar IV if they ported it over to another culture.  It may not add anything in terms of gameplay but the visual difference would keep it feeling fresh to me.

So whats the next hot game to come out for us.  Apparently it's going to either be City Life 2 or Simcity Societies.  Neither of which has me wetting myself in anticipation.  We really do need the next gen city building game that is all inclusive.  Have it the ability to change the visuals for each game of it that you play.  One time it's an asian flavor, and the next it's Rome, and the next it's Greek.  Would keep me entertained for quite a while I think, even if the basic game mechanics are all the same between the cultures.

Smiley Blink Well my thoughts.. what if Paradox could implement a Guild 2 flavored Europa Uni game..choose your nation..and the rest of the world either ally or foe.  They have the databases in place..just need to get away from the 2D board game format.  What do you think??  ..kind of mind boggling isn't it?...hehe  Sticking Tongue Out  Well it proves I can really dream that's for sure...

I hear ya, CB. I'm kinda tired of making war. But, the turn based part of Rome TW is the part I like most. I'm wondering if Europa Universalis is this, without the cut to real time tactical mode.

If they took Caesar IV and wrote it in assembly code, then I might consider it! It's too @#$%! slow! I don't care what culture they use.  It's a dog!

Yeah, Max, 2D game boards are rather dull.

How about this: An empire builder (or any other game) where the goal is to make friends! You can make 'em by giving resources as gifts, or technologies, or whatever. Instead of beating up your enemies, you're to amass the most amount of friends (nations or otherwise). Now, there's a concept that hasn't been tried -- not even in the real world!
