You know a game is really good when...

1. You go into the store expecting to buy a game, and see a game you already own on the shelf and decide to purchase it again because it's a really really good  game.

I havn't actually done that, but when I was in the frys store I saw Anno 1701 on the shelf, and couldnt find anything else and something triggered in me that said, it's so good I should buy it again.  I didn't however since the mizor in me stayed strong.

   I like to have an "extra" copy of games that I know I'll be playing for sometimes years... mostly for replacement if something happens to the original.. also if MP is offered I always buy more than one...two at least.  1701 is a good example..I have three copies.   

I can be a miser too..but not that often when it comes to a great game at a reduced price.

   That's OK Sandra..so do I..and three or four Caesar III's  I use to buy them whenever I saw them on the rack.. and give them away with PC's I'd built "by request" ..I called it my "game Pak."   

Sometimes I've wound up with multiple copies because of people sending me "gift" copies of games they sort of thought I would like..thus I have several copies of SimCity(s)..and Civ XX's that have emerged through the years.     Nice thing about gifts..is that my first Patrician was a gift..and the next two revs.. I couldn't wait to play.

You know a game is good when you keep coming back to it. I only have one of those right now, and that game is Stronghold Crusaders. I dunno why! It just has some magic to it. It's fun. Its a low stress, no-brainer. Is total relaxation.

I been thinkin' lately to fire up my Civ City Rome again. I liked that one. I've also been considering installing Unreal Tournament 2004 again, just to see the frame rates I get now that I have Fraps on my PC, but that's a heckuva installation just to see framerates.

There's lots of things that make a game good. However, there seems to be many more things that make a game bad. Only a handful really make the grade.

I think extendability is 2nd most important. Most important is that it's fun! And I mean funny fun, not just absorbing.

   Good point Lengo.. sometimes I Want to be absorbed..other times I just want my game to be Fun.  RRT 3 can deliver both if you allow it.. not many have the "magic".. I agree there too.

I use to use UnReal to test PC performance.. sheesh.. what a monster.  Now I use Benchmarking software..a couple of flavors that seems to be dedicated to accuracy without bias.  Of course my bias doesn't count..hehe

Oh Yeeah CB!!..I love it when I'm finally in the Mayor's seat.  To me that is the real beginning of "Boss Level".. no opposing butt is safe.
