I've never been a FPS type of gamer.  I've tried maybe 3 of them in the years that I've been gaming and not one of them held even 1% interest for me.  I find them extremely boring and repetitive, yet there are so many people out there that enjoy them I often wonder what it is that I'm missing that makes these FPS games exciting to so many people and so dull to me.  Maybe it's just my personality.  I'm not one for violent sports such as boxing, and I really disliked killing things (hunting for game) when I was a child.  Yet I do enjoy strategy games where I have to form at least a basic format of strategy to go for the win.

It's like my opinion of Game Consoles, I have never felt that they lend themselves really well to much beyond FPS/Racing/Hunting style games due to the controls.  I only own an old style Xbox and most of the games that we own for it were bought second hand at the ebgames in town, but the one that gets used the most on our xbox is the monopoly game and or some offroad truck racing Sim.  I think Baldurs gate was okay on the xbox but nowhere near as enjoyable as it was on the computer.

I just don't understand how people can sit for so many hours a day mindlessly running around shooting at their opponents.  Maybe theres more to it then that, but I've never been able to find it.  And then again I'm pretty sure the FPS crowd would look upon a city building game with the same distaste that I have for their FPS games, wondering how some folks can sit around for hours starring at little people running around a screen.

Yeah!..my Kids watched me test and play a half dozen CB games and commented that it would "drive them nuts"..to have to sit around and watch a city "grow".. and worry whether there were enough food and services.  Mmm? ..sort of tells me something about today's generation..and these are my very own offspring...<sheesh>  .. where did I go wrong?.. Wink

I guess I have pacified their side of the issue..they have Xboxes and PS2's..and I don't have list what type of games are played the most on them.   Sticking Tongue Out

My son has a gamecube but REALLY loves playing Stronghold and watching me play The Guild 2, etc.  I'm just waiting until he's ready to actually PLAY the games....I think he's a young city builder in the making!!!!

Big Smiley Grin Laughing  With my kids I did try my best to incite them to play City builders.. but they have their own friends and all my efforts were eroded by their joining CLANS so they could play with said friends..  So FPS came from outside sources... not me.  I did what I could..and they are reminded that I DID try..  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Hope your little CBer survives and follows in his Dad footsteps.   Smiley Blink
