Okay, I'm only going to play it through the weekend...but w/ a back-up lappy in hand..I'm goin' old school 2D graphics!  So I think I'll start in.....mmmm....oh, Reval maybe?

We'll see!  Everytime I turn the game on it makes me sad for the days when Ascaron, one of the pioneering developers of the intelligent and in-depth game, brought us the Patrician and Port Royale series....I only wish they'd return to their roots because they had a feel to their games which was mesmerizing....

 Thumbs Up  Hey hey pat!!

Simply cannot go wrong with Patrician 3.

I have an ongoing game..  It's custom..and I have 10 Hansa towns to build.. I have accomplished four Alderman assignments..so far, and it require massive imports from the Mediterranean..and Americas..so it is a real mental challenge.  I haven't made Alderman yet, which is strange, though I do get into trouble occasionally (hehe).. I get close, but something always happens that knocks me out.  I've been Mayor of Stockholm for quite awhile, and easily keep my city in good shape.  Well you know the drill as well as I do...  Laughing

TEN CITIES????  Holy crap!

I mean HOLY CRAP!

I'd lose my mind!  I'm working my way to mayor of Reval...quickly became merchant and would have been travelling merchant already but I'm spending some cash establishing a meat empire out of Novgorod!

Heheh  I thought this one would get a reaction out of you pat!!   Laughing

It's a 24 city map.. I start with 14 towns.. basic Hansa regulars.. I edited the goods produces and divided the raw goods so no one town has a direct production chain.. each town depends on another for help.  I edited this map over a dozen times to get it so it would actually work in this circumstance.  Wine Pottery and Spice all have to come from the Med.. and Furs are only a secondary "effectiveness" product in Riga.. and bring the bulk of Furs from the Americas.  So makes the game really thin for quite awhile.

So this makes for a long term commitment to play out.  I have "thanks to acquired Pirate Cogs" have massive floating warehouses.  I finally belong to all the Guilds..and of course have My own trading houses in those cities.

Each new Town has a reserve of products to produce..thankfully my first city had Bricks and Timber..something I had no control over, but I did need another good brick producer.. as my own town is the only other with this capacity..others either have Bricks or Timber..never both.

I play this Map off an on as it just keeps me very much occupied while I'm playing.  I do wish some of the Port Royale ship transferring options were available in Pat 3..just a player convenience thing.. I figure you've thought of this too.   Big Smiley Grin Laughing

Hope you make Mayor without a hitch!!   Sticking Tongue Out

Wink Yeah..thanks to you.. reminding me about it.. and you know how it can happen.  I was up most of the night and into the early AM playing Pat 3..  I made Alderman, something that I wanted to get past..so I could focus on other Map goals.  I had to give up my "ahem" tactics on the other Traders..well I just wanted to keep them from horning in on some my Monopolies..   Sticking Tongue Out

I also managed to get a Third wall built in my Home city..so I have that out of the way too.. Man.. with only One really good source of Bricks..it takes a looong time.  hehe.. and I'm only to blame, but the benefit is it also slows the growth of the other towns as well.   Laughing

Like any purist Builder..the ol control freak mindset always rears it's pompous head now and then... <sheesh>   I really love this game..2D or not.. it just keeps the player comfortably busy ALL the time..  You agree?   Smiley Blink

I completley agree...for the casual player, one can think there isn't a lot going on, but once you get into the meat of the game, you can find HOURS zipping by without really realizing it...For me, the game packs an amazing amount of depth....so much that the 2D graphics don't even register....
