.... actually looks like you have practically endless possibilities with this creation..

heh heh! Yeah, I see three things I can do with this. Either make him a fisherman (the one that got away), or make him an opera singer, or a band leader/conductor, or... or.....  Got any suggestions?

I'm leaning toward the band leader/conductor. I dunno though.

One thing I learned yesterday. I can remake the modular parts until I'm satisfied. I had muscle man arms for him, but these turned out stupid looking. This looks much better, and even much better than I expected. I'm pretty happy with it at this stage!

I got a shipment from Dick Blick today. In that box is some modeling clay. I'm gonna start making a head (or at least playing with this stuff).

heh heh! You should see the disaster I made by trying to carve a head out of florist's foam. Michaelangelo I'm NOT!  Agreed Happy Clay will be much easier to work with.

Yeah! He might look better this way. I could easily screw up his head. But, i got a plan. I got some modeling clay. This stuff never hardens. I can work it, and work it, and work it until I get it right. It might take years, but I'm sure I'll get it right!

(after you model it, you put strips on it, building up three ayers. Then you cut the paper mache in two, lift off the two sides, put the clay back in it's bag, then glue the two halves back together and add more layers)

Not yet.  In the world of paper mache, things happen slowly.  Thumbs Down

I did model one with the clay. ANd I did pretty good at it too. But when I checked it against the body, it just wasn't right! I decided to go back to basic shapes, and layered up a balloon. This I managed to screw up too. I applied a little heat with the first layer on. The balloon expanded, ruining this layer. I managed to repair it, and then I did some experiments to get it really smooth.  This works, but in the middle of smoothing, I decided it needed another layer. So now I got another layer on it, and gotta smooth it again. I should have that done by tomorrow, and can then start adding features to both the head and the body.

Thumbs Up  It looks like you'll soon become quite an expert..  just experiencing what works and what doesn't usually is the best way to attain that status.   Smiley Blink

hehe Sandra...there's more than one way to mess with someones head.  I believe ol Frank had "bolts" holding his in place.. or was that another "monster" type?  Laughing
