Dreamcatcher is the disastrous Publisher that RUINED Pax Romana and released the disaster that was Dungeon Lords....BUT BUT BUT...AFTER they had already cancelled HoE, they were purchased by JoWood and they look to have righted the ship!

pat!

Hopefully Jowood's will review HOE and maybe put it back on the burner.

Yes I believe that HOE might be in Alpha State. So there might not be years of work to get it out....

It's a loss for us who like CB games that it was canceled like that  Crying

I found this  game "Arabian Lords".  It is a city building/strategy game.  Screenshots are nice.

Whoa! OMG! Somebody has had an IDEA! Incredible! Something DIFFERENT! This might be something exciting!

See this link too:  http://www.ameinfo.com/130346.html

I wanna know more! Especially, when is it gonna be released here in the US! I WANT TO SEE THIS ONE FOR SURE!

Rhiannon, I think I love you!  Agreed Happy  Wow! Thanks for this tip!

Edit:

The Official Site has no contact information, so I looked up Breakaway Games and have emailed them "when?".  When I find out, I'll let you know.

Oh man! I like Middle Eastern music!  And if this plays well at all, I'm gonna get it just 'cause it's different!

WOOT! My faith is renewed!  Agreed Happy

Not sure about that one...will probably pass...seems to be less of a city builder and more along the lines of ... not sure.  Spent a solid amount of time on the website there and not real confident in some of the things i read....Breakaway Games, however, is a pretty cool company, having been involved in the release of the greatest CB of all time (my opinion only!), Emperor: RotMK!

I would only hope this might mean that Breakaway Games is getting back into the CB gaming industry.  I don't know what they've been doing since Emperor, but I don't think it's been CB genre games.

I will pass on this one too, from that which I've been reading this seems to be less CB and more CBRTS.  Meaning that you are competing against the AI to get more of your own people into prebuilt cities to gain control over whatever.

But we'll see what happens with it, I won't rule it out just yet, just say, it's less likely that I would go out of my way to purchase this title.

While the specific game's website actually left me a bit put-off (I don't want my games/movies/music/media/news/etc.) funnelled through any filter that worries about 'offending' anyone, regardless of their beliefs, if you look at Breakaway's site, they've been actually doing a LOT LOT of Govt. Work...working on sims to help solve problems, etc.  Entertainment games not-withstanding, you should check it out just for the read...it's quite interesting..

Here's what's written at http://www.ameinfo.com/130346.html

"Arabian Lords is an innovative blend of real-time strategy and city-builder game play that lets players take the role of an enterprising merchant lord as they start with one palace and expand to rule an ancient empire. As players gain prestige and wealth they must engage in competition and shrewd diplomacy against rival factions, while keeping their own customers and citizens happy and community thriving.

'One of the unique aspects of Arabian Lords is that players can employ different strategies and win in a variety of ways including, building a culturally advanced city, amassing the most wealth or becoming the most respected leader.' said Deborah Tillett, VP of Development, at BreakAway Games. Players are rewarded for shrewd negotiations, cultural finesse and great leadership - not by relying on military might or violent means. We're very pleased with the results and look forward to creating more products for this growing market.' "

That sounds like economic competivness to me. I like it.

For sure, the music alone will be different. I eagerly await this, and have written to Breakaway and asked when it will be released in the US, if at all. If it's not gonna be released in stores here, they're at least planning an online store of their own. I'll buy it. It's gonna be different. You can't beat that!

I don't know what the laws are, but you know how some games can't be exported outside of the U.S. makes me wonder if this title could be bought from one of the retailers in the Arab countries where it's sold and shipped to the U.S.

If not and they don't end up selling it here in the states, then we better start making friends with some Middle Easterners if we want this title Laughing

Do we have any middle eastern friends here on the forums?  I've not heard anybody say they are from that section of the world so far that I can remember.

Well, I'm a friend of theirs! Does that count? And we better start making friends with them if we wanna put an end to the middle ages! Sheesh! Everybody's going around telling others how to live. Now that's medieval fer sure! I dunno if the world is ever gonna learn!

They're just like us. They want peace and stability, love and happiness, bounty and beauty. How do I know this? Because their music sings of these things, that's how! I'm big fan of their music, and you can find lyrics on the Net of their songs. And hey! they make excellent foods too! I don't know anybody that doesn't like kabobs!

It's not the majority that's making the trouble. It's the minority power hungry and religious extremists on both sides. Now if THESE people would go to war, the rest of us might make a better go of it!

So yeah. There is at least ONE middle eastern friend here -- Me!  Agreed Happy
