Thumbs Up Yup...that PC still has IE 6.xx SP2

I totally spaced that .. I have 7 on the other one..where I'm "testing"..uhmm..getting use to it.
...and the scroll bars...went away??  OK...Now that's cleared up. Smiley Blink

I agree that you've sort given yourself a content "fitting" puzzle..it's not poor design. It's the age old puzzle working images mixed in with text content. One then you can count on.. IE adheres to absolute font sizes.

You mentioned Vista container layering.. if you have a container which holds text, its width should be font-relative if possible.  Which also applies as you also mentioned it contains tables..still this is all moot if having to have an absolute position doesn't guarantee the same results for all browsers.  Lots of Mozilla/Firefox surfers anymore... so my thought is hitting a perfect fit for everyone..may not be a reasonable premise.  Just enough to drive a person nuts..eh?  Ahhh.. I ramble on too much..sorry.

Makes one seek a stiff refreshment... anything to make it as painless as possible..I've been in these hair-pulling deal too CB...sure got my sympathy, and it'll work out, there's just too many ways to "skin" a web page anymore.   Laughing

With all the content you said she (your Mom) has..I'd probably resort to a Flash Player for premium News and Glamour Points of interest..then scale down the rest of the "historical content into "Info ID-tabbed" index (where one page will allow linked access to other pages..rather than using the singular"next page" process  ... Abode 9 is easy to work with..easy to update.  I've used others.. well just a thought. ?? After all is said and done..you do need to keep it easy to maintain.. I've found this to be the one most important factor.

Thanks for allowing  everyone their 2-cents worth..sorry I tossed in a couple of bucks. hehe.

I'm uploading a screenshot. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.9

It looks good to me, but I'm still using a CRT.

I just can't part from this NEC MultiSync with SB Diamondtron pic. Tube

Can it be the problem lies in people using Flat Screens LCD!?

It's possible they behave different depending what type
and Manufactor it is !?

It's after all a zoom they have to do....

Anyway It's just a thought I got.....

EDIT:
I just browsed through the pictures etc. and everything looks very
good on my monitor !!

Yeah, the bottom horizontal scroll bar is gone. I had it too originally.

I think you're painting yourself into a corner. Off the bottom container graphic.  You don't need it. Your pages can then scroll automatically (set overflow to none (I had this wrong before)), and just let the text flow downward. The browser already has a scroll bar. Two vertical scroll bars just isn't very pretty.

Handling RSS feeds should not present a problem. I've found that this is quite easy to do. The hard part is converting them into Flash or WMV or MPG or whatever.

ALWAYS... get paid by the hour. If the customer wants to change his plans, he then has to pay for it.  Most people think you just apply a little goo, and all is done. Sheesh! That's far from the truth.  Making even a simple website takes time.  Make 'em pay by the hour!

Having someone stand ovr my shoulder brings back terrible nightmares I've had before. I've had three businesses and countless 'bosses'. They always want something added, or changed, or deleted and replaced, and have no clue about how much work is actually involved. Heck! Even I make myself stressed out. Getting this stress from somebody else would be damn near intolerable!

The best suggestion I think I can offer is off the bottom graphic border. Just let it flow as far down as it wants to. Change the vertical bars so that they blend into the body background color at the bottom, and make them about 1 1/2 paqes high. THat's what I ended up doing, and it worked out better than I expected.

Re: Mouse pointer position offset at top of form input boxes.  I noticed that on your site after you mentioned it. THen, I had to make a form and dreaded it, expecting to see the same on my pages. But, it doesn't happen. I'm using IE 7 and it's working out fine. It works fine on here too, on these message boards.

p.s. I'm making more progress on my site. I'll have some pages up soon (mid-March?) so that I too can create a topic here -- HELP! NEED FEEDBACK! When you see that thread, be sure to call the men in the white coats!  Laughing

Okay, I think I understand what Lengo is saying about offing the bottom bar, but really it wouldnt have to be offed at all, but instead have the body of the page expandable to fit the content instead of having an iframe in there, that way the middle section would stretch to whatever the content happens to hold, thus it would do away with the iframes scroll bar and use the browsers main scrollbar.

I couldnt do this prior because it was using layers to position things but now it's using a table to contain everything (which I hate doing, due to lack of true pixel precise positioning), but I'll have to give it a shot and have the body areas be expandable and see how that goes.

I think it would look unfinished if I did away with the bottom bar all together though.

I'm not sure if you know this little Linus

Site in French, but just choose an Episode from dropdown menu.
