So just a quick word to say that I'm enjoying the hell out of Terraria.  Wishing it was more 3D like minecraft, but overall I like how much stuff there is to craft and that there are boss mobs that I need to kill (eventually), all and all it's quite enjoyable, if I can somehow make a slime trap that automatically kills the slimes and collects the money and gel, I'd be in heaven in this game.  I'd set one trap on each side of my house/castle in the making just to keep the slimey bastards off my front lawn.

I too am enjoying this game a lot recently. I have had it for quite a while and even played a fair bit, but for some reason when I started playing it again recently I found my self progressing in ways I hadn't done before. For instance I had my first encounter with the goblin army and I have had my first encounter with a boss, also had my first meteor hit. I also found an old man guarding a dungeon for the first time. These are all firsts for me in my 3rd world with my 3rd charactor. Its odd though since I think I had played the game for maybe around 40 hours already prior to making this 3rd world, so I dunno why I never came across these things before.

I know its ironic as I'm certain Terraria is greatly inspired by Minecraft, but I think Minecraft would be a much better game if it applied many of the same principles as Terraria in terms of progression and exploration. A 3d version of Terraria would certainly beat both games as the one big shortcoming of Terraria is its inability for more creative construction due to its 2d state. Yet Minecraft can't really be called a 3d version of it since it lacks much of the game play and constructive options that makes Terraria so fun. Can you imagine a goblin army periodically attacking your castle in Minecraft while you use booby-traps and such to defend yourself? That would certainly be fun.

What we really need is for Minecraft and Terraria to get married, the baby game would be absolutely awesome sauce goodness.

I think the number one thing that bugs me about Terraria, is how small everything is on my 24" monitor, even reducing the resolution (and dealing with the blurryness of a flat screen displaying the game at it's non-native resolution) the game blocks and what not are still really tiny.  Very difficult for me to click precisely when mining long tunnels.

I imagine if I played it on my laptops screen then it would be larger (I would hope) since the screen is smaller, hence lower resolution, but overall I think the smaller the screen with Terraria, the larger the game looks.

The hard part of the game to me is to try to keep myself from cheating.  Although the game allows it, it feels like cheating when ...
1. I take my character into any new world, be it single or multi-player (because everything is new, so items and resources are easy to get at)
2. Some of the in game items just seem over powered and make it feel like I'm cheating the game.

Still... Overall, it feels like a great game that I can forsee myself putting in probably close to as many hours as I've played Minecraft, which has to be into the hundreds of hours now.

Oh yeah, Khalan, I did this trap/farm and in just a few minutes I think my gel count is around 230, plenty to last making torches for a long time, and should come in very handy if I ever get a flame thrower.  Thanks.

By overpowered items do you mean things like the Spectre Boots (Hermes boots combined with the Rocket boots)? Those things are quite awesome I must say.

I've only seen those in video, I only have the hermes boots now, which take so long to turn them on that they're not overpowered at all.  Some of the weapons that I've seen or gotten myself seem overpowered.

By the way... Do the NPC vendors ever change their inventory?  I understand the demolitionist never changing inventory if he's already carrying all the explosives to begin with, but the old man with the beard in my game never seems to change his inventory, it's always the same stuff.  I was hoping I'd find something nice in there (for a large amount of gold) once in a while.

Also, does anybody know if the piggy bank is like a locked chest for multiplayer?  I tried to get some coin out of my main characters piggy bank but it was empty, when I went back in with my main character, the bank had my coins in it.

So Im wondering if I were to allow others to play in my world, if they too would not be able to take any coins or other items out of my piggy bank?

Piggy banks and safes will only show items for the character that owns them, so they are multiplayer safe, which is why they're so expensive.  You can only have 1 safe and 1 piggy bank's worth of storage - you can own as many safes and piggy banks as you want but they share storage (safe is separate storage to piggy bank).  This can be very handy for exploration - keep a piggy bank in your home, take another with you.  When your inventory starts getting full, place the 2nd piggy bank down and fill it up.  If you return to your home the items will be in the 1st bank.

Some of the vendors do add a couple of extra items during a bloodmoon.

Oh dang... I just had my first blood moon, oh well I'll check the vendors next blood moon.  This first one was brutal when I found out that the zombies could open my doors and there was maybe 6 to 10 of them on the other side of the door.  And there my character feeling all smug about being locked away nice and safe in his home, and BAM, the door flies open and in march a small hoard of zombies.

Yes, you might have guessed it, there is now a tombstone inside of my house. Laughing
