 Happy Dance

Well its come round at last, even though it wasn't an auspicious year for a lot of people, I'm kinda sad in away to see it go, clinging to it like a safety blanket, better the devil you know and all that. 2012 heralds in the year of the Dragon, in the Chinese New Year and I wonder what that holds in store for a Rat persona like me, apparently it forebodes well. It looks like I've got a lot of travel lined up and horizons anew to network, so I'll be kept quite busy.

How about you guys and gals any plans, resolutions? :-

My own is never to get involved with other people's computer problems, I broke that in an other post and I'd need a JCB to extract the situation, and I can't be bothered anyway.

Well the party has started early in the good old GB. Plymouth is determined to see out the Old Year in style, and we are going to do it the Navy way

Happy New Year and try and remain positive and give generously, what goes round, comes round.

Regards Mac     wink

Happy New Year to all.

I hope that this New Year brings you all what you need, whether it be peace of mind, prosperity, fellowship, love, or all of, and or more than, the above.

We don't go anywhere this evening as there are too many drunks on the roads tonight, so we simply stay home and watch the ball in Times square drop on the Television.  Maybe we'll run out this afternoon and get something special to make for dinner or something along those lines.

Wow, it's really hard to believe that it's been a whole year that has passed again, dear old father Time is about to pass away this evening and baby New Year is about to be born again.

Next thing you know, we'll all be wishing each other a Happy 2013 and laughing our butts off at how the world didn't end with the Mayan calandar.

Love, respect and wishes for peach to you all for this coming year.

..., so we simply stay home and watch the ball in Times square drop on the Television.  ...

Back in the quieter time before the "electric telegraph", the only way communities had of synchronizing all their clocks was to drop a highly visible ball from the tallest building or from a pole on the highest hill around. Of course, that was after there were a lot of clocks to synchronize and well before we went crazy springing forward and falling back in our time zones which we established to synchronize the passenger train schedules.

When you watch that "Times Square Ball" drop, take a sip for the old days when the cutting edge of communications technology was the local high-noon ball drop by which to set your clock.

But then in those days, political speeches took a couple of hours -- and you could stay away from them. I am nostalgic for the days when a very precise appointment was within an half-hour or so, and the ordinary appointment was for before or after noon on a specific day.

My best and kindest wishes for good things to fall upon all the folks here.

It's a lovely thought... peach be unto you as well  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

I wish for a year when my football club isn't run by crooks and not in administration and there's a new CB game better than the classic isometric Sierras.

The ball still drops at Greenwich, but at noon. The chimes of Big Ben are the signal for 2012 in London.
