Okay, my Alien can play basically everything...but for work, I have a Dell lappy with an nVidia 7300 video card..it's a nice, fast, servicable lappy w/ a 15" monitor that is perfect for work...I actually use it as my desktop w/ an ergonomic keyboard and varioous docking/plug ins...Over the course of the next two-plus months, I have trips to Ithaca, Richmond (Va.), Madison, Minneapolis, Ann Arbor, Lansing and Detroit...yeah...road time!  Many plane rides and even a bus trip or two (yyaaaargh!).  So, since I'm savvy enough for our IT folks to trust me I'm able to complete service/access my work lappy as admin...

So here's the question...when/if you travel or on your back-up system, particularly if its not as powerful as your main gaming rig...what few games would/have you installed?

Since I don't want to eat up my work hard drive w/ games, I've kept the installs to a minimum:  Here's what I'll be playing on the road in the little down time I have while not working -- I.E., morning w/ coffee, nights before sleepy time!!!:

1) Caesar 4
2) The Guild 2
3) 1701 AD
4) Children of the Nile
5) Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom

The dell lappy, nice as it is with a core duo processor, just can't handle RPGs a la Oblivion or Gothic.

So, what say you?

 Hello and Welcome pat!!!

I retired in 1996..so probably don't have the insight of RL opportunity. The laptops were really limited then too.  I did manage to have early Caesar games on the side..and discovered 1602AD worked OK on those early NEC's I used.

Today?..my opinion that the builder games are more relaxing and can be saved progressively where, as a traveler you can managed to absorb the enjoyment.  Plus the time goes pleasantly fast...when you are hard at work designing a City infrastructure over (chasing down something to whack)..  IF your Dell can handle your list..I think I would be in Game "Hog Heaven"..but it is a personal choice.

I think you'll have plenty of options..just stay healthy. I also got so weary, it was hard to keep my energy going..always liked to be home to really relax Smiley Blink

I've said it before. I'll say it again.

If you can get a copy of FireFly's Stronghold Crusaders, it'll entertain you for hours. It's very simple. It's freaking funny. It's not terribly hardware intensive, and it's only $9.99 if you can find it. You'll laugh, I'll gaurantee that or I'll buy your copy from you!

Other than that, I'd also put a link to these boards on mobile unit. This is THE place!  Agreed Happy

Lengo!  I heartily agree!  While i don't put it on my travel system, all three Stronghold games (not including Legends of course) have a permanent place on my Alien's hard drive!  It is HILARIOUS! and actually quite challenging, particularly the crusader trail....

 Agreed Happy

There's a goodie on the disk called end_song.raw. Have you heard this? If not, let me know. I have it in mp3 form and it's a freakin' HOOT! I'll put it on my server space so you can get it.

Hello and Welcome hehe The humor is great in all the Stronghold titles.  I just don't have the time to play them as frequently as I use to.  The Devs are quite a group of really talented fellows, probably could've gone into comedy and been just as successful. Laughing

I just hope they keep working on making games with the same passion..it is enjoyable and rewarding to both sides of the isle. Sticking Tongue Out
