I spent hours (literally, I have a satellite connection) downloading the demo, only to find out it's not supported! Is there any way to get around this? I can't afford to buy the full version

It could be your graphics card - what do you have?

Or this if you have ATI cards in Crossfire, there's a hotfix for it:

This should allow you to play normally. However on some configurations the selected in-game GFX resolution needs to be lowered a bit for all GFX features to become available.

My graphics card is not the problem. When I try to play the game an "upgrade" sends me to the German URL and it sez there that the demo is no longer supported, to buy the full version. If you can't play it after downloading it, direct2drive should remove it from their listing!

I would contact direct2drive because they are merging with gamefly. There is a possibilty that because they are teaming up with gamefly that they stopped carrying the demo.
