It's ok, but honestly I don't have the patience for these types of games anymore where it takes so long to get anything accomplished.  Plus I'm really not a fan of the whole pay to play, I much prefer to just buy a game outright and play it.  Now, granted this game is designed as a pay to play so there is no other option.

But with price tags of gems ranging from $1.99 to about $$99.00 theres just no way that I will get involved in the game whole heartedly with the thought that I might one day spend a couple hundred dollars on it through buying gems just to get over my lack of patience to wait what seems like an eternity to get things done.

As it is right now, I think the game is far too slow to accomplish things like one would in a regular 'offline' game.

Same as above

Also when I logged on from UK it doesn't seem to have unlocked yet and it just says await beta key, but if what CB reports is the format, then I've no interest in yet another placement of building and await a trickle of resources type of game, especially one with micropayments to speed things along and if there's no actual RTS play just a browser simulation - then no.

The trouble with this sort of game is that they are pleasant enough to start out with but become a chore later on and then downright annoying when more advanced players start farming your surplies on a regular basis, unless you join at a very early stage, latecomers always get hammered.

I've been having a lot of fun lately with Age of Empires Online and although its best to buy the premium version, its still possible to have a good gaming experience with the free version (Just treat it as an advanced Demo) to judge whether its for you or not, there's loads of varied quests and progress is at a steady rate with really arty visuals. In addition the home city can't be attacked so you can come back to it after a few days and be confident it hasn't been ransacked.

PS: I posted about Castle Empire in July in City Building Stuff
