I'm a newbie here.   Just saying that first.  =D

As a whole, I build, maintain, and care for my little compies (I've probably built 10 or so, 2 for myself, 8 for others on request) for a hobby, play games when the computers aren't blowing up (No, I'm not THAT horrible =P ), and am often attracted to the less mainstream genres.

I also have a bad habit of using emoticons.   I tend to sprinkle my posts with them XD

I am a huge fan of the Harvest Moon series (though nothing recently, but did pick up the FINALLY released PSN Back to Nature port, to play as girl for once), and I love to play Zelda, Metroid, Sonic, Halo, and too many others to list, but I can waste time, all of it, playing and replaying games likes Zeus (my favorite of the Impression series), Caesar, or Pharaoh.

Which is how I got here in the first place.   I found the forums looking for a good game other than the Impressions Citybuilders to play.   Always open for recommendations, you know? =)

Anyways, nice to be here XD Hope you all have a good day.

Welcome!

Children of the Nile is one of my favourite city building games, and Anno 1404 (aka Dawn of Discovery) is one of the best.  They are definitely worth trying if you haven't already.

Hey there,

Going with what Khalan said, Anno series is very much in the step of the city building games made by impression. Am also guessing you played Emperor Rise of the Middle Kingdom? I have been hustling away on that recently myself.

Stronghold Series is also very like the city builder series and what goes without saying the Settlers series is very much alike as well.

Perhaps if you want get down to a modern styled planner, Sim City is always a personal favourite of mine.

Yes, very much a fan of the Impressions games, I got Emperor a couple years back.   I'll admit Caesar IV wasn't my favorite, so I've been on the fence about Children of the Nile, but if there's a demo, expect me to try it.

Anno I've seen while lurking the forum.   Is it really so good?  Not that I mean that in any offensive way, but the demo is huge and I have a slow internet connection, so I am curious.

And yes, I've also spent many an hour with SimCity.   We originally got the SNES one, and I used to play SimTown on the computers at my elementary when I was a little kid (I just dated myself. )  We have a huge collection of Sim games, actually, both old and new XD Sim City, 2000, 3000, 4, Park, Safari, and Tower (and Yoot Tower), then the Sims from Sims 1, but still, the Impressions games are always my favorite.

Asuyuka, welcome to the forum!  First off, Emperor is, to me, the best 2D builder EVER!  Loved it!  Children of the Nile is a superb builder but different in that it's economic engine runs completely contrary (or 'different') than the other impressions games.  And as for Anno 1404: Venice...oh my YES it is worth it!  To me, the most fully realized builder out there....superb!

Take care,
pat

definitely with you on that one Pat, Anno is easily one of the best city builder type games out there.

Stronghold, Settlers and Tropico are also worth a look if you can as well. Is your connection fast enough for youtube vids?

Fairly fast enough  :) It's good enough to load a 240 quality video in little or no time, and 360 in a bit more, but its average download is around 100-120 (technically, the download/upload is 512/768. )

I'd be glad to take a look.   I never got the hang of Populous (II is on Abandonia, I thought I'd give it a spin. . .  why is Molyneux great at having no ingame tutorial?  :mobcreeper:)
