True, I downloaded it, though I really don't know how to play it.  I'm putting a little time into Borderlands, which I guess is kind of fun, though my aim at my enemies is atrocious.

Eh iv had tf2 since it was released... never got into it, and the whole hats and purchasing of better weapons etc kind of turned me off.
I'v tried to get back into it here and there but I still enjoy TFC more.

But hey a free game is a free game hopefully you guys can find more out of it than I could.

CB: I got borderlands when it was on that super sale for like $8 but never made it that far out of the first city; I was suppose to do co-op with a buddy but we never played.

What I'm finding with Borderlands is that I was extremely frustrated in the lower levels with my Hunter Mordecai, but as I started to level up, it became more enjoyable, things just started to jive.  My shots with my sniper rifle became more accurate as did most of my other weapons once I got to put a point into the accuracy skill up.

It's kind of hard for me to move on in it though at times it seems that I just don't have the right weapons and it doesn't seem like the kind of game where you can just wander around looking for weapons, however I have noticed that everytime that I restart the game (load) all the old chests of money and toilets and things like that are refilled, so it's been a lot of reloading the game and going around looting the little lock boxes to get more cash so that I might be able to buy a better weapon.

Makes me wonder if that is why they did it this way in case you get crap for weapons you can still keep loading the game over and over again to gain enough money to buy one at the vending machine.

I love the look of the game however, and picked it up because I play with the bordercraft (borderlands inspired) texture pack in minecraft.

If TF2 turns out to be "too" store centric, then it's likely that I won't play it, I'd rather dump my money into a F2P MMORPG than into a FPS since while I'm starting to enjoy FPS games, they're still not at the top of my list of favorite genres by any means.

I bought it about 3 months ago, so am pretty pissed that its free now. haha.

anyway, I do like it, a lot, I have severe FPS problems with it on integrated graphics which is a bummer. I am hoping soon, that I will be able to buy a new laptop thats sexy and good.

Being free it reduced the value of a game that I bought in the sizzling summer sale on steam since it was a bundle with the original Portal, TF2 and something else along with the main title that I bought (which of course I can't remember it's name, yeah it must have been that good).

Anyway, the big turn off of TF2 right now to me is trying to figure out what it is exactly that I'm supposed to be doing in the game, as well as looking at their cash shop and seeing all those items in there for $2.99 here, and $4.50 there and $0.99 out yonder over there, just a ton of stuff that I'm wondering if it makes a difference whether I have it or not, or if it's more just collectible vanity items.

Although I have to happily admit that I'm really really loving playing Borderlands, all those weapons to collect, and or buy is pure awesome sauce on my plate.

The only things worthwhile having are weapons, hats and what not are just vanity. You pick up drops anyway from anything (playing offline against bots or online againts people or bots), I forget how the drop rate works, you can get some many items a week from drops, the clock resets like 12.00 am in the u.s every wednesday/

I had wanted to download the Orane Box 2 for a while, specifically for the editor.  Supposedly the editor is rather impressive for making machinimas, which is my primary interest, but in watching some tutorials and videos, it is a very lengthy, detail oriented process, and didn't necessarily look all that fun.
