Hi Guys and Gals,

Our web host just notified us that they will be moving all of our web sites to a new server in the next 7 days.  My guess is that they're moving us again due to either our CPU use or amount of PHP use or something similar as they did last time to spread the load better.

Anyway, I've made the necessary chages to the forum scripts on both web sites that require it and the sites are still running, so that's a good thing.  Once they move all of our stuff to the new server we should just come back up immediately without intervention.  However if we do go down for some length of time, you now know what it is and that I'll fix what ever else might come up to get the sites back online if there should be a problem.  I think it most likely that there will be no problems and people won't even notice more than a 2 or 3 minute outtage as they move all our files, but in case you do, you know what it is.

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads-up.  So everything on the frontend will stay the same?

It should.

I'll be updating the forums to the 2.0 forum software once it's released as gold, currently it's in like RC3 or RC4 at the moment and I'm dying to install 2.0 since there is a nice blog addon that somebody created that is going to replace our broken city journals addon so that we can have a real(ish) city journal system for those that want to take advantage of it.  Only a shame it doesn't work in the 1.x version of the forum.

I figure the 2.0 final will come sometime in the next couple months, at which time the front end will change it's looks to the new default 2.0 look for this forum package.

Site has now been transfered to the new server and I'm very pleased to say that I see a tremendous improvement in response time from the server when I come to the forums.  The past couple weeks the sites been really slow to respond to anything, now for me it's almost instananous again like it once was.

I guess our host must have had too many clients overtaxing the servers CPU that they needed to spread the load.  Whatever it is, site is transfered and sitll functioning, and faster so it's all good now.
