I generally stay away from Direct2Drive.com since I had some bad customer experience with them at one time, however for those that still use D2D, If you order now you can get $10.00 off Civilization 5, (makes it $39.99)

When you check out, use the promo code 'schoolsucks' (without the '') and it will discount your purchase by $10.00

I don't know when the deal ends but if you want to save 10.00 on Civ V then I suppose theres one place you can do it.

I'm waiting to see if Steam, Impulse or Gamersgate offers up a sale price on it before i Pull the trigger on purchasing Civ V

I'm just not sure if I'm going to buy this one...Civ was one of those series' that really wore poorly on me...I got bored very quick with it...

I know what you mean by that.

For me, Civ IV has never been one of those games that which other people report "Just one more turn before bed", I on the other hand have no problem turning it off for the night.  But for me, it's one of those games that I come back to after my mind has been in the MMORPG mode or the City Building mode for a long long time and I'm starting to feel like my brain is made of mush and I need something to wake my brain back up.

I don't know if that makes sense to anybody else, but I'm not sure how else to explain it, maybe saying that every game of Civ IV that I play, seems to offer me a challenge in a different way each game, always something different, I don't follow any pre-written guides on what technologies to research in a static path to the end game, everytime that I play I just choose at that time where as when I play a lot of CB (mostly games within the past 4 to 5 years) games I can sometimes just go on auto-pilot and do the same thing as far as what I'm building and how I'm going about it which just makes me feel dull sometimes.  So a game of Civ IV seems to bring my brain back to full working order.  Even though i don't usually ever 'finish' a game of Civ IV, it's enjoyable to me.

I just watched a video of Civ IV on youtube that really makes it look awesome, looks like a complete overhaul. Here's the video that made me say "Wow, I'm so getting this".
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/l-y99pkS_Vs&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/l-y99pkS_Vs&rel=1</a>

It really just looks like the way that I'd always hoped an advanced games of Civ would finally look, and the gameplay looks to be pretty awesome and inspiring too.

Amazon has had it listed as a pre-order for a few days now.

Official site is:  http://www.civilization5.com/ . You can also pre-order it here.

Shack News has a few screen shots and a small review.

Looks fairly close to the same to me with a few new units and hex tiles. I also read somewhere something about larger maps?

Well to me it's a huge improvement in graphics, but that's subjective.

Here's a couple screenshots, the first one of Civ 4 (look in upper right corner and see cows), 2nd shot is of Civ 5, look for cows.  To me the graphics have had a really nice overhault, plus the whole overhaul of the square to octagon 6 sided tiles can really change the game for some folks.

Anyway, it's very nice looking to me now, it's not as big of an improvement in graphics as it was from Civ 3 to Civ 4, but it seems a nice update in the visual department.  Actually, looking at these two screenshot, it might just be as big of an improvement visually as was 3 to 4 and now 4 to 5.  Night and day difference to me.
