I've grown tired of my games and am looking for a new CB or RTS game. What is out there that's worth investigating?

I've been playing Age of Empires with The Conquerors expansion and this is good but it has grown to be very methodical -- the order in which you build is always the same. I've also learned to like Anno 1702, but ti too is very methodical and it takes FOREVER to reach independence. All game are like this, I suppose, but I'm tired of these, so what else is worth buying? There must be something new, but I don't know what's out there now because I'm not keeping up with gaming.

So, what's new? What is worth the money? All suggestions will be considered.

Thanks!

My suggestion is to play age online.  I would be up for a game.  Would be cool if we could get a few members from here to play some age of conqueres multiplayer.  That would change a lot how you play.

Otherwise I have no suggestions.  Nothing new out that I know of.

WHAT! And let you pound me into the ground? No sir! I have a reputation to preserve!  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

However, should you challenge me to a duel, I suppose I'd have to accept. Still, I think it would be better to negotiate and talk peace and trade agreements. Perhaps we could arrange a marriage between my daughter and your son to guaranty our friendship for many years to come. What say you to that?

Well, I'm up for either a one on one or two vs two. All we need do is schedule it so that we're online at the same time. I haven't played online before, but I'm sure I can figure out how it's done.

A good time for me is 3 pm Pacific or later, but I won't be available at 3 on Tuesday or Wednesday this week because I have appointments. I'm also going to be busy with a festival this weekend which I've volunteered to help with. So just say when.

I suggest we play the map ES@Graveyards because it has plenty of gold on it and plenty of relics. AND (you might not like this) I play on revealed maps. I don't fight over land and resources that I can't see. What general  does?

So, lets set a time. Anybody else want in? COME ON DOWN! As my daughter Duke Nukem would say, "Come get some."

Lol, well the challenge has been made.  I'm up for it... How about 4pm pst, I'm east coast and get out of work at 6 + about an hour drive home.  Pick a day and prepare to get stomped even if I may be a little rusty... Anyone else up for the slaughter?

Edit: oh and revealed... Come on amature... Best map is black forest Smiley Blink

There are some realy good rts games out there, depends what type you like,as WWII games go company of heroes is a great game, its not hard to get used to the lay out,its a kind of a resource gather what you are used too,and you can advance as you gather more resources to develop better equipment, also a new game coming out is ruse by ubisoft similar game to that.
Medieval game would be dawn of the modern world, very good also you can go through the epoch from medievil to ww2.
Emperor rise of the middle kingdom would give you hours of fun, in my opinion it was the best 2d city builder ever, the multiplayer is no longer available though.

Completely agree on Emperor.  No one's ever touched it in terms of city building...if someone would make that a 3D game without losing its gameplay integrity, it would be awesome...

Might I suggest Mount and Blade: Warband?  I simply can't stop playing it right now.....
