Well, even though I know this game had its flaws from reports I read on it, this was too good to pass up!

And gamersgate's downloading is much improved!

Does it run properly on modern operating systems, i.e. vista or 7?

Cool.  I went for it and can confirm that it runs on Windows 7 too with no CTD's either.  The only sound glitch that I ran into was where the scouting party would go silent every now and then although I don't recall what I did to cause it, but it was something that I did because I repeated the action a couple times and they went silent each time, but really is it much of a big deal to silence the burps and farts of the scouting party?

The sounds of the scouting party remind me of the movie 'Blazing Saddles' in the scene with Slim Pickins and his band of rogues sitting around the campfire eating beans and well... You know.

I found a free MMORPG to play that's actually a really nice MMO, it's called Ruins of Magic.  Many people play it without ever buying anything from the game store until they are about level 52 when you pretty much would need to  buy a couple things to be competitive, but for me I had to have my 'mount' so I bought one horse mount and then saw the 'specials of the day' which is selling a 'flame' mount (which is a winged horse really) that is capable of gliding on top of bodies of water where as regular horses when hitting water will unmount you so I had to have that, plus it's got a little extra 10% boost in running speed over the regular horse's 60% boost to character running speed.   Total cost I think was about $3.50 or so.

It's very much like WOW, I must say and I'm not a WoW hater so that's a good thing to me, very addictive although Pat I know you don't have the time for MMO's what with your children and busy work schedule, just thought I'd throw it out there for anybody else that is interested.  Very enjoyable thus far but I'm only up to level 11, and I figure that by the time that I actually get to level 52, I'll be pretty well bored of it like I was with my toons in WoW by the time that I had hit level 50, I was pretty much done with WoW, so unless they come out with new content to keep it fun I'll not likely to have to spend even a dime more if I don't want to.  So nice savings: WoW $15.00/month  RoM: $3.50/eternally (if I don't want to buy anything else) although I must admit the 'portable bank' and 'portable auction house' is tempting me where you can rent each of them for about .33 diamonds per day (6 months for 60 diamonds, which are about $1.00 per 100 diamonds while they are on sale this weekend for 2 for one) so for a couple bucks more I could rent a portable bank and auction house.  Talk about convenience!

Edit: Gonna post the info about RoM in a new thread too in the Games for great prices forum area for anybody else that might be interested and come along.

Yeah, I couldn't pass it up either. Not much info on the game either. Latest post I could find was 2004.  Big Smiley Grin Laughing

No sandbox mode - bummer.

Well, apparently it improved over the 2004 version. I made it to mission four in the campaign and even played the first scenario.

RP would be so great with a sandbox mode, what with the fog covering the map and a random map under the fog it could have been really great.  Still not bad , not bad at all for less than $3
