Well my harddrive bit the dust  around a fortnight ago and I have been reinstalling on my new hd some of my games.  Now I get to Simcity4 all goes well..until I start reinstalling my plugins with the dependencies and cranking up my game. Low and behold, there are brown boxes.  Not one but many and mostly to do with the flora stuff.
Okay so maybe there are new updates to the dependencies so I go to SC devotion and Simtropolis and redownload.  Installed them, started the game and still brown boxes.  Okay now another complete uinstall, then a reinstall , update from EA, then reinstalled all the newly d/l dependencies then my other plugins and and yep...brown boxes again.
Now this goes on repeatedly for a couple of days.  I tried the game on my old pc and same thing.  As you can guess i am getting rather ticked off by now and about to call it quits.  So okay one more uninstall, then reinstall this morning. ..same thing happens.
Then this afternoon, I see my Rush Hour expansion glaring at me from the shelf...yep I hadn't installed it!!  How stupid I felt....all I had to do  a few days earlier was install it and everything would have been cool with compatible plugins with no brown boxes, AND I would have had a few less days of cursing.    Bashfull Female   Bashfull Female   Crying   Oh! I see

Talk about dumb me!  Don't you just hate it when that sort of thing happens........

Same exact thing happen to me just this last weekend.  After building a new computer I started to load it back up with my games and other software and had the same issue with SimCity 4.  For me I have both versions of SimCity 4, the one that comes with Rush Hour and the other verson where I have SimCity 4 and then another disk with Rush Hour on it, and I always felt that my game was more responsive and stable when installing off the original version that has the seperate disks for SimCity 4 and Rush hour (non deluxe I guess it is), and so sure enough forgot to install Rush Hour. Bonking on the head with a hamor

And now I've got to reinstall it again since I had to reload Windows once I figured out why my new replacement drive wasn't showing up in the bios or in Windows and I wanted it as my primary drive (which it is now), so one more try at reinstalling a couple of my older games.  Most of my newer stuff is on Steam, Gamersgate, Impulse and EA, all of which will take a couple days to re-download.
