Simple Poll for those that have the Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack.

Is the Ambitions expansion pack worth the $39.99 to you?

If you change your mind, you are free to come back here to change your vote as long as the poll is still open and available to voting on this subject

Please try to post a response explaining your vote.

Thank you,

On a personal note, I have to currently vote still undecided since I don't have the expansion and am undecided whether or not to purchase it.  I'm not sure if there are enough additions to it to make it worth the $39.99 to me.  After all, they still have not added in any sort of weather other than some reportedly "weird" fog effect on the new map, and of course those that know me, know my gripes about the lack of a hot tub and a diving board, both of which are still missing from the game after 2 expansion packs, as well as a piano which is also still missing.

My vote is no on this one.  It is a cool idea... but the gameplay they add is not worth $40... sure you get some new items, but they don't release what the people ask for/really want (like the mentioned hot tub), and all the items they make put together arn't worth an extra $5-10.  Besides, taking your sim to work seems like it can get pretty stale after awhile.

And unless I'm wrong, I believe they still "give" the 1,000 points with each purchase.  Why?  Because the 1,000 points cost them nothing, so they can try to justify the extra 10.00 price tag on the product by saying that we are getting 1,000 free points with our purchase.  The main problem with that, is that there really is a large population of Sims 3 players that are as brain dead as a stump and believe they are getting 1,000 points for "free', when the reality is that they are paying for it through the extra 10.00 in the price tag.

Drop the price to $19.99 or 29.99 with the points and they might have a sale, but I'm still hugely undecided when the price tag is at 40.00

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that going to work with your sims is one of the most requested items in the game, only second to the hot tub, weather etc.  But what they've done is that we still can't go to work with just any of our sims, they need to be at one of the jobs that allows us to go to work with that sim such as the firefighter, or the interior decorator, and speaking of which, the interior decorator sounded like a builders dream come true until I saw the preview video over on youtube which made it look like it might have been made for a kindergarten children with how simple it is, i.e. Little Susy is turning 13 this week and wants a bedroom makeover, her family has 13,064 to spend and Susy would like the following items in her room ...
A book case
A television
A Rug
A bed fit for a teenager.
etc.

lol... it might not be too bad, if all you are into is designing cool looking places (which Is really all I play sims for... I create the house, play it for a day then im done).

Every once in a while I try to play "for real" (ie without cheats), and build up my house as I get money through jobs... if you play the "for real" way, then it would be the chance to build a cool room (i.e. if you get mr.$$$ and wants a new game room on budget for $50,000)... but at the end of the day, you never get to do anything with that room.

but even so, I can just give myself the free 50,000 with cheats and say I want my own bed, dresser, etc. (so I guess I second your motion CB, that job = boring, or in otherwords... give us $40 of your real money and we will pretty much let you do what you could do anyway, just at a different house with preset limits).

Yah, you hit on the head with your last line! Bonking on the head with a hamor

Then I thought that the firefighter job might be cool, afterall in real life these men and women lay their lives on the line saving the rest of us fools that go to bed with a cigarette in our hands.  Until...

I read that the speed of the fire truck is dependant on what status the sim holds as a firefighter.  While some people may find that to be entertaining and a bit of a challenge, to me it kind of killed the whole idea of being a firefighter in TS3.

I'm not sure what the rest of the jobs are that allow the people to go to work with their sims, but at the moment since the latest patches killed the Create a world (CAW) toolset, I really don't have much incentive to give EA $40.00  Perhaps when  ever they fix CAW I might be more inclined to take a step back and take a look at the overall expansion and see just what they are giving us that is new (i.e. new stuff to play with, new building blocks to build with etc).  So far I've not heard about all that much that is new that would entertain us (you, me other Sims Builders) as builders in TS3.
