Can someone tell me how to take a screen shot with Windows 7?

alt, shift & ctrl/prt scr won't work either. Programs that have their own or capture the ptr scr key work fine but with a full screen app with no snap shot key, I get the Desktop.

What, with Windows 7 I have to get a utility to take a snap shot?

Civ City: Rome and Civ IV both - doesn't work. Gives me the Desktop with both.  I got in the habit of prt scr with everything. Tap it open paint and copy and save, end of story. Now I'm lost! Oh, well, it's time to Google.   Smiley Blink

Sorry, I know what you're talking about now.  There are some fullscreen games that produce either a blank white screen, a blank black screen or simply the desktop when trying to capture the image in teh game.  Yeah I know what you mean and yeah I've had to use Fraps for those games that do that to me.  i think settlers 7 does that too.

I'm pretty sure that I still use the prtscrn button when I need to copy an image to the clipboard and then paste it into my paintshop pro program.

Even right now I just pressed prtscrn and pasted the webpage into my graphics program as seen below:

Thanks a lot CB. I've been trying some of the "best Windows 7 screen capture utils". I was starting to think I did something wrong when I changed motherboards a few weeks ago, it's a kicker by the way. Every one of "The best screen capture utils" did the same thing, blank white screen.

I remember FRAPS from a few years ago but couldn't remember the name. I got it now and it works great. In CivCity: Rome anyway.

Almost forgot R.I.P.  Ronnie James Dio.

Yah, Fraps was the only one that I could get to work in Settlers 7, many other people on the Settlers forums also could only get Fraps to work in Settlers 7, other than one person that reported he could get some other program to work but when many of us tried the other program we all also got the blank white screen.

I imagine it's got to be something that Windows 7 does with a fullscreen maybe not being a "real" full screen, but rather some oddball Microsoft Windows 7 psuedo faux full screen instead.  It was downright annoying until I remembered that I had fraps installed on my older computers so moved it to my win 7 box.  Although I never remember to load it up prior to playing my games, only remember when I press prtscn button and try to paste what I think will be a screen capture of my game into paintshop pro.  Ooops my bad.
