I'm having trouble to build a bridge. Can somebody explaine how to do this?
I tryed several times but it's always wrong. This afternoon i wanted a bridge over a river but it's always to steep or the foundation is to high, it's never good for them.

Now a complete other question. What kind of work needs an elite?

Di have to build waterpomps?  I ask this because they complain that the water is to expensive. In my last city it was -2. Do i have to build more waterpomps or none at all? The problem is when i build more i lose a lot of money. The same problem with fuel and electricity.

Thanks.

Well Its been a while for me, since beta, so I'm not sure I remember it correctly nor do I know if anything has been changed in those areas since the beta. As far as bridges go, don't you hold shift or some other key while moving the mouse up or down to determine the height of the bridge before placing it? I think it works something like that. Hopefully that is helpfull to you.

As for water. In the beta a lot of your income was from industry and commercial businesses. How well they would do would be based on how cheap the resources are that they use, among other things like what the taxes are set to and how close they are to a city exit, and in the case of commercial I think how busy the road is that the building is facing. How cheap the resources are is dependant on how much of that resource your city produces. So for example water, if you produce a lot of water then water will be cheap for your businesses that use water and so they will be more profitable and in turn pay you more tax money. If they are already at their maximum profit then they are getting sufficient resources.

But again, I'm working off memory so I could be remembering it wrong or changes could have been made since then.

I have the same thing with the bridges.  What I usually do is to build a road first, then start the bridge at the end of the road and start heading over the water, usually it will turn green to the edge of the water and I click once there, then I start over the water and adjust up or down using the Shift key until it turns green and finally complete it on the other landing.  Sometimes I have to add a road to the other landing to connect up with it too.

I highly suggest using the Globexco Unlocker version 3 and the Moaku Sandbox patch that is needed by the Unlocker to work, both found on the Simtropolis exchange so that you can adjust how much money omnicorp pays and buys resources for.  Then sell off all the extra resources that your city has extra for a nice profit.  I generally set the omnicorp buy prices around 75 and their sell prices the same to try to balance it out, although I rarely buy anything.

There is also a mod that will allow all resources on every map, which is helpful if you don't want to trade at all other than to sell off stuff for a profit.

One thing to remember about mods however, is once you use them in a cities xl game city, you will always need to use them and if you remove them from the game those saved cities will crash and burn upon loading.

Have you adjusted your taxes?  A water tower I don't think is that much per month, maybe you are using something I've not used.

I don't know what the elites work at, I want to say they work at high tech business's but that might be the executives, I've never had the opportunity to get elites in my cities before the saved game corrupts or the game starts crashing regularly.

I do it different for different terrains. Screenshots 1, 2 & 3 are for a long bridge. Place bridge in river with a space on each end then place one end and Using shift key, take it to ground level, then the same for other end.

#4 is a bridge started in middle of river and lowered to ground on one side then the other.

Manufacturing, High Tech & Offices (all under industry) use Elite citizens. There could be more but I can't think of any right now.

You either need to build more or trade (buy water) for it.

Speaking of bridges, I remember building this bridge and thinking '....something is not right here.'

Thanks for the help, guys. Sorry for the late reply. For some reason i was'nt able to login yesterday and also my first try today did'nt work.  I changed the login time from forever to one hour and that worked.

The bridge. My mistake was that i started at the beginning of the bridge and not in the middle. Why don't they tell you that in the manual?
I also did'nt know i was not able to place a bridge on an existing road. Stupid of me Laughing

I saw a few familiar names here; TomNobles and Dobber. I remember Tom from CotN forum and Dobber from the Anno forum. I do have another nickname over there "Alizeefan".
Nice to meet you again.
