There sure are a lot of city-building games set in Ancient Rome.

I would like to hear your opinion on what are the best, and why?

I've only tried Caesar IV and CivCity:Rome, and I'd also like to know if it is worthy to play the other ones, or if they are just more of the same.

You need to try CotN - Children of the Nile (also there's an Alexandria "City Pack").

If you haven't tried the original city builder (Sim City), then I would say that it it a must.

Visit my profile (click on my name) and find info on the three I like best at my web site.

I voted for CivCity: Rome because I don't have any of the Ceaser games and is the only one on your list that I still play.

My vote is with grand ages rome, but I have not played it in a long time... I really want to play the expansion, but since I love steam, and for some reason they wont release it on steam, I don't own it :(

EDIT: Lol, I voted for grand ages rome and meant grand ages rome, but for some reason in my post I said civcity rome :P

Out of the roman city builders I prefer Grand Ages Rome, however out of all the city builders I love Simcity 4 the best, as long as I can use my 4GB of user created buildings.  Without custom content in Simcity 4 to me it's very vanilla and visually not very appealing , but with custom user created content it jumps to life.

If I owned CivCity: Rome on Steam I might be enticed to give it another go, but not worthy (to me, guys, to me) of having to load up the disks to try it again.  It's been ages since I last played CivCity: Rome.

Yep, me too. The link gives me a page that says;
"This item is currently unavailable in your region"

Don't bother me though, I have it and CD is always in the CD-ROM.     Smiley Blink

My vote goes to CIV only because Grand Ages: Rome does not have an editor included!  However, if it did have an editor, then hands down it would go to GA:Rome!

Question is, do you want a game that is mostly logic and logistics and warehouses and carts running all over the place, or a game with magic distributions, flow resources (cough), no cartpushers and a lot of fighting.

I prefer the first sort, so to me Caesar III, Caesar IV and CivCity: Rome are far better than the others. I actually still play these.
Really difficult to choose between them. Caesar IV looks by far the best to play, I get most fun out of 2D isometric old Caesar III though, and CivCity: Rome was rushed out and deserved a revision and lot better from Sid but is still a cracking good game.

I didn't get Imperial Romanum, but Grand Ages was the worst of the other sort. Even Glory was better, because at least you had slaves running about all over carrying stuff even if it did disappear in one warehouse and be magically available at another one.
