Thanks for the news crowebird.

So far at least my GTX260 (along with a quad core CPU) handles everything I've thrown at it, for example the Just Cause 2 demo at max details, so I'll be holding off for quite a while I think.

The thing I found more interesting about this product was a thread on electric bills and the speculation of how much more it would cost to own the 4 series card and more specifically two of the 4 series cards in SLI with the amount of heat that they generate and the necessity to run air conditioning longer to cool the same room.  It seems the 4 series card runs at abou 101°c (that's blazing hot my friends) as my (by comparison) little 275GTX can (if I let it) run up to 80°c under full gaming load, and the area around my computer is noticibly hotter if I don't turn on a fan to move the air around, I can seriously heat my home office as it is now by simply leaving on my computer and closing the window, I can't imagine how bad it would be during the summer months here when our regular temps outside are 110°f to 121°f (on bad days) and then add a video card that is blasting out 101°c heat while I'm gaming, which is a good portion of the day or night.

I think it might overwhelm my air conditioning.  My small house has central air but it's so hot here that we have to add window A/C units to key rooms to keep it comfortable, I don't think I'll be purchasing this as I really can't afford to go above my current summer electric rates of $450/month that already kills me for 4 to 5 months out of the year. Crying  Not to mention my CPU would then be the bottleneck I'm pretty sure if I went to a 4 series card, but hey, thanks for the info.

I have a cheap 8500GT. What do I use to get the temp? NVIDIA Control panel doesn't show temp.

I use HWMonitor from CPUID, it is freeware and a great system statistics program.

As far as temps go, my 275 runs at about 80 if I am playing an graphic demanding game... but I found out that the auto setting on the fan does not work, and therefore, the fan never increases the speed.
If I am about to play a game, I increase the fan speed from 40 (default/auto) to 70-80, and I see temps drop 10-20, quite amazing actually...

CB, if your card is evga then I recommend downloading the evga precision, which allow for easy overclocking, and fan speed settings. (Never messed with the OC, but I use the fan setting all the time).

Yup, I use EVGA precission although my card is not made by evga, I use it to control the fan speed and just keep it at 70% unless I need some quiet for some reason then I turn it back to auto which is set to about 40% which is way quiet, but is not capable of playing a game as, as soon as my video cards reaches about 83°-85°c the display driver crashes and although I can get back into my game it's just annoying so turning it to 70% fan speed keeps the card in the low 60°'s or so which the display driver seems to like on my computer and never crashes from it.

Right now with no real load (just web browser) my video card is running at a steady 40°c and my CPU is at 38°c but it's a cool day and I've got the evaporative cooler on the roof turned on and a small desk fan blowing air into the side of the case which I do when ever I play a game just for the extra cooling it affords.

I use Everest to monitor my temps and do an assortment of other things but it costs money, I can't remember how much as it's an older version that I bought a while back, I shoudl probably see if there is a free update since it doesn't monitor some of my hardware on the main board correctly (gives false temps).  It's also about time for me to pull out the video card and get the compressor out of the garage and give it a good blow out to get any dust bunnies that might be in it out of it for extra cooling, I have a feeling the video card air ways are packed with some musty dusties.  It's been a while since I last did it and last time I really blew some dust out and should have done it outside instead of inside the case.  It's just such a hassle to unplug everything from my computer to move it outside, theres just so much plugged into it.

Also a thanks for talking about HWMonitor, I like that it keeps track of min max and current temps so that I can easily see how hot or cold certain items have been running after gaming where as with evga precission which also has a nifty graph to tell me the past temps it's limited in that I've got to open it up pretty soon after playing a game to see what temps the game was causing the video card to run at where as HWMonitor keeps that listed as max temperatures (at least so far, I don't know when it resets if ever).

I haven't tried, but under view dropdown there is a "Clear Min/Max" button.
