Yeah but the reall strange thing is that some people (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the vast majority of people) when trying to use the printscreen button and pasting it into their graphics program end up with nothing more than an all white image instead of the real image.  Also programs such as Gadwin, and Fsscreen (both image capture programs) also produce nothing more than an all white image instead of the real image.

It would appear that Fraps is the only program thus far that works for every user that is using it, where as programs such as Gadwin works for some users but only produces the all white image for other users.

Fortunately, I do have the full version of Fraps, it may be a little old now, but it fully works.

I've also heard of people that use Xfire to take their screenshots and or movies, however while xfire supports The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom, it apparently can't detect (manually or automatically) the Steam version of The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom.  I installed Xfire just for the ability to take screenshots and or movies (although I could use my Fraps) and could not get it to detect The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom either automatically or manually and of course I have the Steam version of The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom.

So I went to the xfire forums to request that they add the ability to use xfire and The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom and was told that xfire already supports The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom but not the steam version,  hence why I know this.

More random thoughts....

Depth of play:  Um...yes.  This game IS hard...the learning curve is not too bad though, particularly if you play the campaign.  The real depth does not come from randomness, which the game sorely lacks at this point due to way too few maps, but from the utilization of the tech and trade trees and the way advancement in those areas are tied directly to your ability to get a robust economy up and running...and then defending that economy.  The way that BlueByte instituted both tech and trade trees is quite ingenious...I'm finding that part of the game very challenging and very rewarding!

Beer: mmmmm.....beer....and never before have I played a game where beer is so important!  And that is a GOOD thing!!!

later,
pat!
