I'm really torn on it, I know that I should vote with my wallet and just say no to this type of DRM else all my games are going to have this kind of DRM and I'm going to find that when I go up camping, or vacationing somewhere that I can't access internet, I'll be regretting it.  On the other hand I know that there are many that will vote with their wallets and not buy it, but of course we always think "somebody else will do it", and maybe one more that doesn't buy it because of a hatred of this type of DRM might make a difference.  Then again probably not with this title as it's such a niche title anyway that there won't be any great opposition that stands up and screams about it like they did with the EA title a year or so ago.

So, I hate the DRM but I enjoy the game, what to do?  I guess cave in like the weak ass that I am and give them my $50.00 (which would be free anyway since I found $30.00 at the market on the floor (and kept it) and have a $20.00 credit at Steam.  Yeah I know, just a way to justify it I suppose.

Well, I totally caved in, Samantha came home the other night and plopped $50.00 down on my desk (she's been out of work and just recently returned to work) and so she gave me some money since I've been single handedly paying all the expenses for the past several months here so I took the opportunity to use the market found money and my steam credit to buy the game.  I told you I'm weak.

So far, no problems with the DRM however I've only played it for about 10 hours or so on different skirmish maps they supply with the game.  I've altered my castle a tiny bit with castle forge and have only taken 30 seconds to look into map forge.  The game itself doesn't necessarily need albegra as a users college major, however it does have me running around a lot altering my store houses products that I pull into each store house to try to tweak them just right.

It's really not so difficult to balance resources needed to output products as I was suspicious it might be with some reviews I've read, however there are times that some store houses fill up and resource gathering stops, but once a store house is upgraded twice it has unlimited storage so it's not so bad at all.

Personally, I'm learning the ropes by playing skirmish mode with NO AI present so that I don't have to worry about them and can take on the neutral AI with my armed forces since the neutrals never attack first.  This is allowing me to build and see what works next to what the best.

So far it seems that putting work shops next to the resource gatherers works the best even though in theory it should be that I can place the work shops anyplace and have a storehouse that is upgraded twice pulling the resources that the workshop needes, however that doesn't seem to work.

So I downloaded the demo, and first of LOL at them putting the DRM on the demo... (again I already have an account becuase of DoD, and also AC2), I mean come on, it is the demo, they are really going to lose sales if they require people to be online 100% and register an acct with the damn demo!

With that said, having never played any settlers I decided to watch the tut first, which sucked horribly.  Not only do they fly through it, with it being a video and all, they don't explain anything... "ok so we are going to place this here, and this here, and this here, oh ya, dont forget this..."  A in game tut, like DoD would have been nice, and a little more reasoning behind why they did what, or atleast to slow down for 5 seconds would have been nice.

So with that (and not wasting my time on a manual :P (is there even one?) I decided to just try to play, I gave it about half an hour, and I don't like it at all... game just is not for me.  Maybe if I gave it more time I might start to like it, but things seem too croweded, and I could not get a flow that I liked.
